Edward Schaefer, Owner at Bellevue Berry Farm & Pumpkin Ranch, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in agriculture.
Growing up, Mr. Schaefer was inspired by his father’s love of farming. He quickly realized that farming was not about money, but instead, it was about helping the world. After earning a Master’s in agriculture from Colorado State University, he began working with the Accounting Office for Food Analysis on Capitol Hill. In the 1970s, Mr. Schaefer worked as an Embassy disaster relief officer in Costa Rica, which was an experience he will never forget. In later years, he gained more experience as an agriculture economist with the Agency for International Development and then as a consulting agriculturist at the National Academy of Science. Since 1983, Mr. Schaefer has been the owner of Bellevue Berry Farm and Pumpkin Ranch. Specializing in agriculture tourism, he and his team have excelled and established their farm as one of the best in the area. In recent years, they have held over 120 weddings annually. While business is slow at the moment because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Schaefer is excited to see people return to his farm when it is safe.
As a testament to his success, Mr. Schaefer earned the Division Director Award in Economic and Community Development from the Department of Agricultural Operations. Further, he is a five-time winner of the Harprey County People’s Choice Award for Outstanding Wedding Reception Venues. A member of the Agricultural Economic Society, Mr. Schaefer attributes his success to his love of what he does. In his free time, he loves to see his two children and three grandchildren as much as possible.
