Alice Atkins McCoy, Owner and Designer at Alice’s Design Studio, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in interior design.
The owner and principal designer of Alice’s Design Studio since 2019, Ms. McCoy is renowned for her superior kitchen and bath designs. A Certified Master Kitchen & Bathroom Designer by the National Kitchen and Bath Association, making her the second person in Florida to achieve this title, she is also allied by the American Society of Interior Designers. Ms. McCoy’s designs have been published in the Florida Times-Union’s Water’s Edge, Kitchen and Bath Business, 2nd Home Journal, and Design/Build, along with a featured cover in Women’s Digest. To add to her feats, Ms. McCoy’s kitchens in the Main House and School House are featured in the historic Gilded Age Stetson Mansion in Deland, Florida, winning a National Cambria Contest for Kitchen and landing on the National Register of Historic Places. Additionally, her design of Cajun Chef Justin Wilson’s Louisiana kitchen was featured on his televised cooking show.
A native of Charleston, West Virginia, and a graduate of Marshall University, Ms. McCoy opened her first kitchen design showroom in 1978, Galley Designs Ltd., which was one of only a few kitchen and bath design firms in the United States owned by a female proprietor at that time. In addition, she was the owner of Alice Design For You from 1999 to 2012. Ms. McCoy became inspired to spearhead her own business from watching her parents excel in starting the first telephone answering company in West Virginia in 1946, which they did for 30 years. She also owned the company for some time before following her own passions. Ms. McCoy maintains membership with the American Society of Interior Designers and is an active volunteer for Florida Poodle Rescue. She previously served as president of the Kanawha Valley Historical and Preservation Society and as a member of the Historical Society of Virginia.
