Since 2014, Ms. DeStefano has owned and operated Gavali Salon in Fairfield, Connecticut, a premier full- service hair salon offering services for men, women and children that include haircuts, colors and chemical/keratin treatments as well as makeup applications, special event and bridal party styling. The salon specializes in advanced coloring, glazing, highlighting, balayage, foilayage, cutting, styling, extensions and more. She had completed courses in cosmetology, barbering and styling and nail care with Ricci’s Academy in Newtown, Connecticut. Ms. DeStefano excelled as a hair stylist with Ricci’s Salon and Spa from 2007 to 2010 and a master stylist with S Salon by Salvatore from 2020 to 2014.
Gavali Salon has been included in Top 20 Salons for Design in the U.S. in 2020 and received a Best Hair Color Award by Fairfield County. Ms. DeStefano attributes her success to being a “people person.” She is very accommodating to people that when they go to her, they trust that she knows how to handle a situation and fix anything when it comes to hair. When the COVID-19 pandemic started, she had to close the salon for about three to four months. It was very scary and challenging, so she did everything she had to do to make sure that they were able to pay the bills that included delivering hair color kits and shampoos. When restrictions eased in 2021, ended up being one of the Gavali Salon’s busiest years.
Ms. DeStefano’s most notable achievement was when she decided to start her own salon. In addition, she takes pride in having won an award for top 20 salons for design in the U.S. for 2020. She considers her main passion for her job to be hair coloring and is most proud in having won an award for best color in Fairfield County. In the coming years, Ms. DeStefano’s goal is to expand and open additional salons.
