Karen L. Monteith, Owner at KLM Multisensory Language, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in language therapy.
With nearly 40 years of experience to her credit, Ms. Monteith has excelled as the owner of KLM Multisensory Language since 1984. Initially working as a teacher in Germany and The Netherlands, she later worked as a special education teacher for Dripping Springs Middle School between 1984 and 1988. In addition to her primary responsibilities, she served as the co-founder of, and a certified academic language therapist with, the Rawson-Saunders School between 1997 to 2004. Moreover, Ms. Monteith was formerly appointed as a language therapist by the Texas Empowerment Academy, the vice president and advisory board member for the Austin chapter of the International Dyslexia Association, and an advocate and pro bono teaching for an autistic young man.
Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Monteith pursued an education at James Madison University, from which she earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary education and special education. She subsequently concluded her formal studies at Ball State University in 1976, at which time she graduated with a Master of Arts in counseling psychology. Following these accomplishments, she became certified as an academic language therapist in 1984. Attributing her success to her ability to utilize her struggles to develop her strengths, she fondly recalls her recognition in Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Looking toward the future, Ms. Monteith hopes to become a writer while utilizing her creativity to better contribute to her community and the field of education as a whole.
