Mr. Deane has found success as the owner of the game store Sanctuary in Wenatchee, Washington, since 1999. In this role, he oversees and manages the daily operation of the business while sponsoring and facilitating tournaments for the trading card game “Magic: The Gathering.” In addition to his work as the owner of Sanctuary, Mr. Deane remains committed to his community with donations to his local fire and police departments.
Prior to his success as a business owner, Mr. Deane served as a United States Navy SEAL from 1987 until his honorable discharge in 1993. He was stationed at the SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team One (SDVT-1) where he excelled as a pilot. After receiving an Armed Service Vocational Aptitude Battery score of 93, Mr. Deane completed a program at the sonar technician school, earning the rating of a Sonar Technician. Later, he changed his rating to Storekeeper, allowing him to make rank to E4. After his service, he was able to use the GI Bill to enroll in college courses.
Mr. Deane continued to dedicate himself to service after his departure from the United States Military, working as part of the engine crew for the Leavenworth forest service fire crew. He went on to join the Chelan Rappellers and served with them for two years, rappelling down from helicopters to control and suppress forest fires. Mr. Deane garnered further experience as a roofer and later a bouncer for the Clearwater Bar. In 2007, he earned an Associate of Arts in network administration from the Wenatchee Valley College. In the coming years, he plans to continue his success as the owner of Sanctuary.
