Daniel H. “Yoda” Murray, MD, co-owner of Dive-Masters of San Antonio, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners and Entrepreneurs for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of medicine.
Bolstered by more than 30 years of experience, Dr. Murray is a proven expert in the health care industry. Certified in aerospace and family medicine within the United States Air Force, he operated as a master clinician at the David Grant Medical Center, as part of the Travis Air Force Base, from 2018 to 2022, where he primarily participated within the 60th Medical Group. He was also the commander of the 62nd Medical Squadron from 2017 to 2018 and the chief of aerospace medicine for the Air Force between 2015 and 2016. At the onset of his career, Dr. Murray honorably served in the Air Force as a medical physician for 23 years.
Since retiring from his military service, Dr. Murray has committed himself to his other vocational interests, including diving and teaching. To wit, in 2022, he became a co-owner of Dive-Masters of San Antonio. Originally established in 1976, the organization is dedicated to training and educating those with an interest in diving, with many staff members holding a background in military and public service. As part of his work in the field, Dr. Murray holds a certification as an assistant instructor for diving.
As part of his vocational journey, Dr. Murray cultivated his formal education, originally attending Howard Payne University and earning a Bachelor of Science in biology, summa cum laude, in 1995. He subsequently continued his studies at the Texas A&M Health Science Center of Texas A&M University, where he achieved a Doctor of Medicine in 1999. He ultimately concluded his studies at The University of Texas Medical Branch, receiving a Master of Public Health in 2010. In addition to his academic credentials, Dr. Murray completed his residency in aerospace medicine at the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine.
Well-regarded for his dedication to physical fitness as well, Dr. Murray is an eight-time Iron Man Athlete, and he has placed and won in 20 different bodybuilding competitions. In light of his fulfilling career, he has largely attributed his success to his determination and perseverance. Accounting for his achievements, he is notably proud of his time serving in the Air Force, particularly during his deployment in Kuwait. During this time, Dr. Murray played an influential role in evacuating citizens from Afghanistan.
