Paul Michael Coote, president and founder at Paul Coote Insurance Agency, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the insurance industry.
Growing up, completing his education, and working in Jamaica and England, Mr. Coote immigrated to the United States in 2010 on a personal mission to join his wife and family already in the U.S. and to continue his longtime professional practice of putting people first and going beyond the call of duty as a proven and trusted insurance expert. Priding his Washington D.C.-based agency on having high moral standards and integrity, he and his team specialize in offering property, casualty, commercial, auto, workers’ compensation, surety bonds, homeowners, and general liability insurance as well as handling claims negotiations. Service and follow-up take priority in Mr. Coote’s daily responsibilities to his clients.
Before establishing his business in the U.S., Mr. Coote held positions at insurance companies in Jamaica, including United General, Jamaica General, Fraser, Fontaine & Kong and Spectrum Insurance Brokers. In England, he earned a Master of Business Administration in finance and a second MBA in certified management accounting from the University of Leicester, which he cites as one of his proudest achievements. Additionally, he was trained and accredited in London at the Chartered Insurance Institute and the Chartered Management Institute, respectively, after graduating from the College of Insurance & Professional Studies in Kingston, Jamaica. After high school, Mr. Coote intended to study law at the suggestion of his father. However, a friend encouraged him to try the insurance industry, which he preferred as it intrigued him and brought forth a rewarding career.
Operating in Washington D.C., Virginia, and New York, Mr. Coote hopes to expand The Paul Coote Insurance Agency into five additional states in the coming years. Declaring that his success is the result of his innate abilities, determination, and focus, he also credits his practice of dealing with clients with compassion. He says his concern for the welfare of people comes from a familiar mantra: “To whom much is given, much is required.” Preparing future generations of professionals, Mr. Coote is a mentor to young people in the insurance industry, stating that his life is all about making a positive difference in others’ lives. To this end, he supports charities close to his heart, including College Bound, a nonprofit organization in Washington, D.C., that helps youth of color achieve higher education.
