With nearly 20 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Ragone has excelled as the president of Backcountry Broadband since 2021 and an adjunct professor at the Metropolitan State University of Denver since 2017. During this time, he also worked for F5 Inc. as a LineRate enterprise network engineer from 2014 to 2018, a senior devops engineer for the cloud from 2018 to 2019, the lead for cloud engineering from 2019 to 2021 and an engineering manager for infrastructure services from 2021 to 2023. He previously served in a number of positions with Verizon, including as a product assurance and certification intern in 2009, a system performance engineer in 2010, a system performance engineer from 2010 to 2011, an RF design engineer in 2012, an enterprise network engineer from 2012 to 2013 and a switch and data engineer from 2013 to 2014. Mr. Ragone began his career as a web application developer for Intronis Technologies from 2005 to 2008, during which time he was additionally active as an information technology specialist with Swift Electrical Supply in 2006 and both a software and systems architect and chief executive officer with SonicFiber LLC from 2007 to 2008.
To support his professional ambitions, Mr. Ragone pursued an education at the Academy for Telecommunications and Computer Science, part of the Bergen County Academies, graduating with a diploma in 2006. He subsequently concluded his studies at the Rochester Institute of Technology, from which he earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in telecommunications engineering technology in 2011. In addition to these academic accomplishments, he obtained various certifications from F5 Inc., the Federal Communications Commission and Amazon Web Services Inc. Attributing his perseverance, his willingness to immerse himself in challenging environments, and the support of his loving family, he plans on advancing his Backcountry Broadband’s vertical integration and system automation while assisting rural America in enhancing their deployments and eventually connecting hundreds of thousands of people across America to broadband internet at an accelerated pace.
