With 40 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Slawinski has excelled as the land surveyor at Slawinski Surveying & Mapping since 2007. He began his career as the county surveyor in Manistee County from 1973 to 1986, and subsequently worked as survey crew chief at Ross Surveys from 1986 to 1999, followed by crew chief office manager at Nordlund and Associates, Inc. from 1999 to 2007. In his former and current capacities, his efforts include retracing historical surveys, settling property boundary disputes, interpreting land descriptions and marking boundaries.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Slawinski pursued an education at West Shore Community College, where he completed his Associate of Applied Sciences in liberal arts and sciences. He continued his academic efforts at Ferris State University where he attained his Bachelor of Science in business administration and management in 1999. Mr. Slawinski also completed the necessary coursework to obtain his professional surveyor license in the state of Michigan.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Slawinski has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He served in the National Guard for 20 years, retiring with the rank of staff sergeant. He has contributed to his community as a volunteer firefighter and instructor in Grant Township since 1978, and as a medical responder since 1981. Additionally, he worked as a bus driver for the Ludington Area School District from 2015 to 2021.
Beyond his primary vocation, Mr. Slawinski remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He has been appointed as vice chairman of the planning commission in the city of Manistee since 2019. Additionally, Mr. Slawinski is a member of the Michigan Society of Professional Surveyors and the National Society of Professional Surveyors, Inc.
Mr. Slawinski has accrued several accolades and notable accomplishments throughout his career. He received meritorious service medals during his career in the U.S. National Guard. Mr. Slawinski cites earning his license and working on major power plant construction projects with the federal government as his most notable achievements. He credits his success over the past five decades to his passion for his work and his love for solving puzzles. His goal for the immediate future is to maintain his health and continue working.
