In her role, she ensures that the organization provides a nurturing environment for children and infants as young as two months, training teachers, remaining available for administrative tasks during weekends, managing schedules, creating lesson plans and activities, and maintaining parental involvement in the center.
Ms. Kerney began her career working at a preschool in California before serving as director at two centers for children. Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Kerney pursued an education at the Catholic Academic Institution of India where she earned a diploma. She concluded her academic efforts at the Himachal Pradesh University of Shimla, India where she graduated with a master’s degree in English in 1994.
Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Ms. Kerney has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. She was a board member of Mission to Help and volunteered at The Sach Foundation and the Food Pantry. In light of her impressive undertakings, Ms. Kerney has accrued several accolades throughout her career. She was presented with India Global’s Power Women Award in 2023.
Ms. Kerney attributes her success to hard work and passion. She also credits her family for giving her the courage to pursue her aspirations, particularly her husband who helped her set up the business. She intends to retire in the next five years. In the immediate future, she plans to mentor as many teachers as possible so they can pursue their dreams of running their own childcare centers.
