William Matthew Rossi, Esq., lawyer, entrepreneur, writer-novelist, patented-inventor and world adventurer, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in both law and business.
With nearly 50 years of excellence as a lawyer and entrepreneur, William “Bill” Rossi has excelled at the practice of law and business in several leadership positions and as a top-rated litigator. Most recently, he thrived as chief deputy city attorney for the City of Miami, Florida, and as an accomplished entrepreneur, founding a nationally recognized medical lab testing enterprise.
Mr. Rossi began his career in law in 1981 as an associate with Millikin & Fitton law firm, the oldest continuously operating law firm in Ohio. He became the deputy law director for Middletown, Ohio in 1984, where he also initially served as the prosecuting attorney and police legal advisor, before becoming the city’s employment law lawyer and labor contract negotiator, among having other responsibilities. He was also appointed as the first referee (magistrate) of the Middletown Municipal Court, where he served part-time from 1984 to 1992. In 1989, he established his own law firm, operating it until 1992 when he was recruited to an associate position in Orlando, Florida at Jackson Lewis P.C., a national labor-employment law firm where he represented management in litigation and other employment related matters.
In 1993, again feeling the call of public service, Mr. Rossi joined the county attorney’s office of Sarasota County, Florida where he soon was promoted to deputy county attorney and litigation coordinator. His principal focus with the county was defending law enforcement agencies and officers in police misconduct cases and representing management in employment law matters, including labor contract negotiations. In 2005, he was recruited to the city attorney’s office of Miami, Florida where he held the positions of chief deputy city attorney and head of the management committee, overseeing some 30 attorneys, in addition to representing the city in its labor and employment matters. During his legal career, Mr. Rossi was also an adjunct lecturer at Sawyer College where he taught business and real estate law.
In 2008, Mr. Rossi retired from the practice of law and took an entrepreneurial leap back into the business world, founding and building from scratch a medical, drug and DNA lab testing company that he franchised in several states and built into a nationwide online presence. Before becoming a lawyer, he had also founded successful aquarium rental and battery enhancer businesses, in addition to holding sales and management positions with various companies. In 2017, he sold the lab testing company to pursue his dream of writing mystery novels. Now as a writer, his debut novel “Innocence Unmasked,” will soon be published and he has three other novels in the works. Not content with just writing, Mr. Rossi is also an inventor, with the prototype for his patented nasal filtration apparatus, the “Breather Cleaner™,” nearing completion and once on the market will help people breathe healthier air. Finally, Mr. Rossi is also a long-time world adventurer, thus far having set foot on all seven continents and over seventy countries.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Rossi pursued an education initially at Miami University in Ohio, graduating in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts in political science, cum laude. He furthered his studies at the University of Dayton School of Law, obtaining his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, in 1981, graduating near the top of his class.
