Mr. Ratz has had a distinguished career for 45 years, crediting honesty, friendly service, and respect for people as his driving force. He served as a dealer principal at Logan Motor Sales, Inc. between 1968 and 2009. He currently holds the position of president for multiple companies, including Logan Motorcycle Sales since 1964, Logan Powersports Group since 1964, Hatfield McCoy Powersports since 1966, and M&M Powersports, Inc. since 2014.
Inspired to enter the field of motorsports by his father, Mr. Ratz focused on his education and graduated from Logan High School in 1964. He subsequently entered into a Bachelor of Industrial Arts program at the West Virginia Institute of Technology, where he completed coursework toward a degree. Understanding the importance of problem-solving, he considers analyzing a situation to find a solution paramount when encountering an obstacle.
Mr. Ratz utilizes his considerable knowledge of motorsports by participating in several organizations that rely on his expertise, such as the American Motorcyclist Association and the National Rifle Association, including as a board member for the Logan County Chamber of Commerce. Previously, he was a member of the National Automobile Dealers Association for 30 years, the West Virginia Automobile Dealers Association between 1989 and 1990, and the Polaris Dealer Advisory Council for ten years. In addition, he has been recognized by Powersports Business Magazines as one of the Power 50 in 2013 and 2014, The #1 Powersports Dealer in the Nation in 2015 and 2016, and entered the Hall of Fame in 2017.
In the future, Mr. Ratz plans to expand his Airbnb business by renting his property to trail riders and finding a market for antique motor parts. He and his family enjoy contributing to the Logan Park Care Center and the June Harless Children’s Shelter, as well as local high school sporting events. When he is not working, he dedicates his time and attention to riding motorcycles, trail riding, trap fishing, and old cars and motorcycles.
