Mr. Newcomb has had a prestigious career in the music industry, starting as an independent contractor and subsequently opening his musical instrument sales and repair business, Atlanta ProWinds, LLC, in 2018. He also works as a freelance musician, having performed with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, as well as musical theater and Broadway shows. He participates as a member in several organizations, including the Local Musician Union 148-462, the American Federation of Musicians, the National Association of Professional Band Instrument Repair Technicians (NAPBIRT), the Georgia Music Educator’s Association (GMEA), and the International Association of Jazz Educators (IAJE).
Aware that he wanted to become a musician during his formative years, Mr. Newcomb felt supported by his father to follow his passion and proceeded to earn a bachelor’s degree in music performance from Kennesaw State University in 2011. He was recognized with the Best of Atlanta Award each year between 2018 and 2023 and prestige awards for music instrument repair throughout the Southeast United States region. When he is not working, he dedicates his time and attention to playing music, and is active in the American Labor Movement and his union. He also makes it a priority to help his workers become the best technicians possible.
