Joshua Schmitt, owner of Big Pine Construction, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in construction.

With 18 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Schmitt has excelled as owner of Big Pine Construction since 2017. His expertise lies in creating custom-built homes tailored to his clients’ specifications. To achieve this, he works closely with architects to ensure that every detail meets their requirements. His area of preference is high-end custom homes, including timber framing and insulated concrete forms, which he is particularly keen on promoting within the industry. The use of insulated concrete forms technology enables the construction of highly energy-efficient homes, which is a significant advantage for clients seeking to reduce their carbon footprint.

Mr. Schmitt began his career as a carpenter at Connaster Construction from 2005 to 2007. He established himself as a log home builder at Handcrafted Log Homes from 2007 to 2010. At Dupont Construction, he contributed as a carpenter in 2010 and as a supervisor from 2011 to 2015. He was active as a carpenter at Scull Construction Service in 2011. He worked in custom homes at Fischer Homes from 2015 to 2017.

Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Schmitt pursued an education at Nebraska Christian College, where he completed coursework in music ministry. Beyond his responsibilities within the field, he has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He held the role of worship pastor at Rimrock Downtown Church. In light of his impressive undertakings, he has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He received a nomination for Best of Black Hills.

Mr. Schmitt believes that his humble family background played a vital role in his success. He credits his family for instilling in him the drive and motivation to succeed in life. He learned the importance of hard work and determination, and that sometimes it requires going the extra mile. His wife has been a constant source of inspiration, trust, and encouragement. Her unwavering support has enabled him to wake up every day and give his best to his colleagues and clients.

In the immediate future, Mr. Schmitt hopes to develop a high-end, million-dollar-plus development that will feature amenities that everyone can enjoy in the Black Hills. He believes that this will make the Black Hills an even better place to live. Although the area is already great, he wants to build homes that can provide more enjoyment for people.
