With 15 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Blaney has excelled as owner of Diamond Cuts since 2017 and Barber Academy since 2022. His businesses are located near college campuses, allowing him to cater to the student body, faculty, athletic teams, and staff. He provides haircuts to clients and provides barber training at the academy. He has worked in the personal care services industry as a barber since 2010.
Mr. Blaney began his career as an employee in the oil and gas industry. He worked with the facilities management department at West Virginia University in 2012. As a landman, he contributed to Super Heavy Land Resources in 2014 and Percheron, LLC since 2014.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Blaney pursued an education at Fairmont State University, where he earned an associate degree in business and communications in 2013. He graduated from Morgantown High School in 2011. He is a licensed barber instructor and holds a barbering program certification.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Blaney has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He donated his time and talents to area homeless shelters, the Back-to-School Haircuts program at four local schools and volunteered at the Children’s Gala and Christmas charity events at the local children’s hospital. In light of his impressive undertakings, he has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He was named among the Best of Morgantown between 2019 and 2022, recognized for freestyle design in 2017, and awarded Best Fade at the Washington, D.C. Expo in 2018 and in Pittsburgh in 2019.
Mr. Blaney was inspired to pursue a career in personal care services through the influence of his grandfather who was a skilled barber. As a child, his grandfather cut his hair, leading him to take an interest in the profession. His dedication to his job was evident during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the challenges of the times, he was able to serve his clients and retain his job. In the immediate future, he intends to expand the school, increase the number of students enrolled, and eventually open another school.
