With over 35 years of experience in the energy transfer pricing industry, Dr. Captain has excelled as a senior leader at EY, where he has served as the global energy leader in transfer pricing and economics since 2018. Prior to this position, he was active as America’s transfer pricing leader at EY from 2010 to 2018 and led the Gulf Coast and Southwest transfer pricing division from 1995 to 2010. He began his career as a transfer pricing economist at Coopers & Lybrand from 1993 to 1995, following his role as an economist at ExxonMobil from 1989 to 1993.
Dr. Captain’s academic journey began with coursework at La Martinere College from 1980 to 1982. Following this, he completed a Bachelor of Arts in economics from The College of Wooster in 1988. He then continued his academic pursuits by earning a master’s degree in economics in 1992. Before embarking on his professional path, he pursued an education at Rice University, where he earned a PhD in economics in 1993.
Following these accomplishments, Dr. Captain completed various leadership roles within EY and actively participated in civic engagement and academic involvement. He found success with his written works, contributing significantly to the energy transfer pricing industry. In addition to his primary vocation, he remains affiliated with various organizations, including serving on the V&W board of Rice University and the RISE council for the department of economics at Rice University.
