Alex Karastanov, co-owner and founder of KB Solar LLC and KB Electric, Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in commercial and residential construction.
With 24 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Karastanov has excelled as co-owner and founder of KB Solar LLC and KB Electric Inc. since 2021. In 1999, he immigrated from Moldova to the United States and began his career as an electrician at Globus Electric from 2000 to 2002. He worked as a foreman at BRC Construction from 2002 to 2007.
Mr. Karastanov continued his career as general foreman at Telstar Inc. from 2007 to 2010. At Bergelectric, he contributed as a journeyman electrician from 2010 to 2011, a project engineer from 2011 to 2016, and a project manager from 2016 to 2019. He garnered a stellar reputation as project director with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation from 2019 to 2021. His areas of expertise include electrical sciences, renewable energy, and solar energy storage, and he is skilled in strategic planning, budgeting, negotiation, process scheduling, project planning, contract management, and project estimation.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Karastanov pursued an education at ITT Technical Institute-Rancho Cordova, where he earned an associate of science in computer drafting and design in 2012 and a Bachelor of Science in project management and administration in 2014. He is licensed as a general electrician through the California Department of Industrial Relations and an electrical commercial contractor through the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. He holds certifications from ClickSafety, Udemy, and the Green Building Certification Institute.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Karastanov has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He held the role of minister at Evangelical Voice Church and youth pastor at Tabernacle Baptist Church. In addition to his primary vocation, he remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He was a member of the Design Business Association for two years.
In light of his impressive undertakings, Mr. Karastanov has accrued several accolades throughout his career. In 2012, he was presented with the National Honor Society Award by Alpha Betta Kappa and the National Technical Honor Society Award. He considers his efforts in constructing the Mule Creek State Prison among his most noteworthy career accomplishments. He contributes to causes and organizations to support children, disaster and humanitarian relief, social services, education, environmental protection, and science and technology.
Mr. Karastanov faced numerous challenges upon arriving in the United States in 1999. He began his professional and educational efforts in America despite not speaking English. Despite these challenges, he graduated from high school in two years, was accepted for an electrical apprenticeship, and completed his baccalaureate coursework at night while working during the day.
In the coming years, Mr. Karastanov intends to share his life story in the hope of inspiring others. He seeks to grow KB Electric into a regional brand and establish it throughout South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia. Similarly, he plans to expand KB Solar’s solar panel capacity and market reach to a national level.
