Mr. Bonilla is an accomplished strategist consultant and business development expert, currently serving as a strategist consultant at BOZANOVA since 2012. With over 20 years of experience in organizational development, strategic planning, and business consulting, he has significantly contributed to various sectors, enhancing organizational effectiveness and innovation. Additionally, from 2013 to 2019, he served as the Business Technical Assistance Program (B-TAP) manager for the city of Minneapolis. In this role, he created the B-TAP, which focuses on creating, retaining, and expanding businesses within the city. His innovative approach led to the development of 10 different programs for co-ops, social enterprises, real estate developers, and procurement, earning him the Innovator of the Year award from the City of Minneapolis in 2013.
Mr. Bonilla’s career began in Costa Rica, where he served as manager and business consultant at Milton Rosales & Associates from 2002 to 2005. Upon immigrating to the United States in 2006, he continued to build his professional portfolio as an inventory manager at Hotspring Spas from 2005 to 2006 and as the TTOIC director at the Latino Economic Development Center from 2007 to 2012. His tenure as associate human resource manager at General Mills in 2012 further solidified his expertise in organizational development and human resources.
Mr. Bonilla’s educational journey is marked by several distinguished degrees. He began his academic career by earning an associate degree in business administration from Universidad Estatal a Distancia de Costa Rica in 2003. In the same year, he completed a bachelor’s degree in social and economic planning from the National University of Costa Rica. He then advanced his education by obtaining a Master of Business Administration in marketing from Latina University of Costa Rica in 2005. Continuing his studies in the United States, Mr. Bonilla earned a mini-Master of Business Administration from Saint Thomas University in 2009. Further enhancing his expertise, he achieved a Master of Business Administration in human resources and industrial relations from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management in 2013. Demonstrating his commitment to continuous improvement, he also holds a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification from Proficiency Sys, obtained in 2015.
Mr. Bonilla’s contributions have been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the International Economic Development Council Gold Award in 2018 and the Bronze Award in 2017. Looking ahead, he aims to continue increasing his customer base while improving efficiency in his professional endeavors. He attributes his success to his motivation to help his family, his spirituality, charisma, and the strong relationships he has built throughout his career.
