With over 22 years of experience in the health and fitness industry, Mr. Medina has established himself as a dedicated and knowledgeable professional. He is the founder of Capital Energy Training (CET), which he has been running since 2014. CET helps communities and individuals achieve their health and fitness goals through customized one-on-one strength training and integrating kinesiology-based methodologies into its training. Focusing on muscle response to correct imbalances results in safer workouts, injury prevention, reduced pain, a stronger core and better long-term outcomes.
Mr. Medina’s unique approach enhances the understanding of functional and dysfunctional movements, reducing injury risk and improving performance. He also provides convenient in-home personal training, with expert strategies focusing on structural control, functional training and muscular stability, ensuring tailored workouts that address individual physical health needs.
Mr. Medina’s career in fitness is marked by a commitment to personalized training. He recognizes that a “one size fits all” approach is ineffective. Instead, he approaches each client as an individual, helping them understand their unique strengths and weaknesses. His methods are grounded in a variety of well-established principles, including cross-fit, strength training, functional training, Pilates and yoga. This comprehensive approach significantly reduces the risk of injury, fostering lifelong fitness.
Before founding Capital Energy Training, Mr. Medina played high school baseball at DeMatha Catholic High School, is a DeMatha Hall of Fame inductee in 2023, and his Hall of Fame jersey is currently exhibited at Lou’s City Sports Bar in Washington D.C. Mr. Medina also played collegiate baseball, with his career taking him to Hagerstown Community College and The Ohio State University. Despite an injury that ended his playing career, his passion for fitness and helping others led him to the training profession. His educational background includes undergraduate studies at Towson University in 2007, participating in an athletic program at Ohio State University. He continued his education, earning certifications in Functional Movement Screening, Functional Patterns, and Neurokinetic Therapy, as well as certification in Human Movement Science from the Brookbush Institute and certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
Mr. Medina is actively involved in volunteer work, contributing his time and effort to various organizations such as the Lido Civic Club, the Knights of Columbus, Truman Charities, Sasha Bruce Youthwork, The Brendan Looney Foundation and the Young Catholic Professionals. Recognized for his expertise, he has been featured in several magazines, including CanvasRebel Magazine. In 2023, he was honored with the Best of Washington award, highlighting his contributions to the fitness industry.
Mr. Medina attributes his success to great mentorship and leadership, which have guided him throughout his career. He enjoys helping individuals improve their physical and mental well-being through training. Looking ahead, he aims to continue providing tailored fitness solutions to his clients, helping them achieve their health and fitness goals.
