Richard E. Byfield, MBA, Consultant at Richard E. Byfield, MBA, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in architecture and management.

Having amassed a wealth of experience throughout his many years in his field, Mr. Byfield has found much success as an architecture business and management consultant with his eponymous firm, Richard E. Byfield, MBA, since 2023. In this position, he provides architectural firms with various services to improve their business operations, such as strategic planning, financial analysis, recruitment, and performance procurement training. In the years prior, Mr. Byfield excelled with Seek Enterprises as an independent consultant to FEMA serving in the capacity preparing independent assessment reports, project specialist, and a CRC specialist.

Mr. Byfield likewise served as a manager at Stanford Health Care, and as a consultant with his firm, Business Elegance. He was previously active in various management and administration posts with Assiniboine Community College, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, URS Corporation, the California Construction Authority, Voinovich California, Inc., HMC Architects, and the California Office of the State Architect. Beyond his primary responsibilities, he has remained affiliated with the American Institute of Architects. Furthermore, Mr. Byfield has contributed to his community as a docent with the California State Railroad Museum Foundation.

To support his professional ambitions, Mr. Byfield pursued an education at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, from which he earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture. He subsequently concluded his formal studies at the aforementioned university with a Master of Business Administration. Mr. Byfield received licenses to practice in five states because of his membership with the National Counsel of Architectural Registration Boards. Today, he carries titles with California Architecture Board as retired architect, and with the Nevada State Board of Architecture, Interior Design and Residential Design as architect emeritus.

Mr. Byfield has become reputable in his field by obtaining patents for systems and methods for providing an Accessorizable Frame System known commonly as “Simple-Click” picture frame neat displays. In addition to this accomplishment, he is incredibly proud of his inaugural job working for a developer who designed custom homes. Although the firm was bankrupt, he remained with it and reduced the time necessary to design a custom home by making the process more efficient and profitable, which enabled the firm to emerge from bankruptcy. He also fondly recalls his contributions to the California legislature as a budget analyst, leveraging his expertise with an architecture firm specializing in prison projects, and participating in creating the Joint Powers Agency, which became known at the California Construction Authority, to sell revenue bonds from off-track satellite wagering facilities at California’s fairgrounds to aid all fairs with their capital outlay needs. Mr. Byfield has also cited his work with the State of Utah to direct the division of Facilities Construction and Management, where he implemented the Performance Based Procurement program and was honored as Employee of the Year, among his most impressive achievements.

Mr. Byfield has attributed his success to his steadfast work ethic, his dedication to his career, and his experiences growing up in a lower-middle-class family. He is also grateful for the influence of his multiple mentors, such as Rabbi Alan Bachman, his mother, Betty Jean Byfield, Gerry Adair, a former legislator, and Ron Rule, the founding director of Capital Area Development Authority. Looking toward the future, Mr. Byfield intends to continue providing guidance on products and designs to architecture and engineering firms seeking to establish themselves as full-fledged businesses.
