Shawn C. Bloemker

Title: President
Company: Max Fire Training, Inc.
Location: Godfrey, Illinois, United States

Shawn C. Bloemker, President at Max Fire Training, Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in fire prevention.

With nearly 30 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Bloemker has excelled as the president of Max Fire Training Inc. since 2014. In this position, he offers customized residential and industrial training courses for emergency responders and helps fire departments train with live fire through The Max FireBox, an affordable training tool that safely demonstrates fire behavior throughout critical stages and provides first responders with thermal imaging training. Garnering immense satisfaction from enhancing the safety of firefighters while aiding in their professional development, his work with Max Fire Training helps to provide firefighters with an environment in which they are more likely to retain information, identify potential hazards in live situations, and improve their overall performance. Mr. Bloemker has also notably traveled across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico to impart his expertise to firefighters and their respective departments as a whole.

Mr. Bloemker’s approach to fire prevention training was further cemented by his efforts during the COVID-19 Pandemic, as Max Fire Training attempted to shift canceled training sessions to virtual sessions where the absence of first-hand training and direct communication yielded disappointing results. Having returned to a group session environment, he emphasizes the importance of safely helping firefighters and those in emergency situations in preventing potential injuries and accidents. In addition to his primary responsibilities with Max Fire Training, Mr. Bloemker has found much success as an assistant chief for the Godfrey Fire Protection District in Godfrey, Illinois, since 2013, having previously served as a firefighter with the aforementioned district since 1999.

Before embarking upon his career in public service, Mr. Bloemker was active as a volunteer firefighter between 1995 and 1999. To support his professional ambitions, he pursued a formal higher education at Southern Illinois University, where he graduated from the College of Applied Sciences and Arts with a Bachelor of Science in fire source management in 2011. Over the course of his academic studies, he was motivated by the lackluster nature of his fire science classes, in which the tedious and uninspired method of PowerPoint-centric teaching instilled in him the determination to make a more engaging and effective learning experience. Beyond his primary responsibilities within the field, Mr. Bloemker has also contributed to fire safety and prevention classes as an instructor with a local college.

Mr. Bloemker was initially drawn to the field of fire prevention after his local fire department conducted a public presentation at his school, fueling his passion for fighting fires and save lives as he believed it to be an important and noble service. In order to save to take the test to become a firefighter, he refined his stellar work ethic by taking on odd jobs and engaging in physical labor to financially support himself and his future. Among the most notable highlights of his career, Mr. Bloemker fondly recalls the moment in which he received his fire gear for the first time.

Mr. Bloemker has attributed his success to the unwavering support of his loved ones in addition to the crucial guidance that he received from his friend and mentor, Andy Barnes. He has cited his development of Phase I and Phase II of the Max FireBox as his proudest professional accomplishment, as he was able to add a practical dimension and deeper understanding to fire prevention learning as opposed to memorizing definitions and theories. Looking toward the future, Mr. Bloemker remains committed to training as many firefighters as possible in the coming years so they may better recognize their environments and prevent deaths in the line of duty.
