Corey B. Charles Sr., founder and chief technology officer at DreamVision IT, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in cybersecurity.
Mr. Charles has carved out a distinguished career in the field of cybersecurity and vulnerability management. He is currently the director of vulnerability Management at DreamVision IT LLC, a role he has held since 2024. In this position, he oversees the development and implementation of comprehensive vulnerability management programs, ensuring robust security measures are in place to protect organizational assets.
Prior to this, Mr. Charles served as a vulnerability management consultant for DreamVision IT LLC from 2018 to 2024 and as the founder and chief security officer since 2017. He also held the role of delivery manager and senior security consultant in vulnerability management in 2018. From 2017 to 2018, he led the vulnerability management program for the Department of Energy, showcasing his expertise in securing critical infrastructure.
Mr. Charles began his career with a diverse range of roles, including senior information technology security consultant at Norwin Technologies, IT security advisor and architect at Anthem, and IT security advisor and architect at Robert Half, Amedisys. His extensive experience also includes positions such as IT security architect at HCL Technologies, Entergy in 2015, NMC IT shift manager at ASAP Resource LLC from 2014 to 2015, and project manager at AT&T Government from 2013 to 2014.
Additionally, Mr. Charles worked as a systems engineer at Kforce from 2012 to 2013, an information assurance and security engineer at eVenture Technologies LLC from 2011 to 2013, a senior IT security specialist at NASA Stennis Space Center in 2011, and a systems security administrator II at TKC Communications from 2009 to 2011. He began his career as a software developer, junior database administrator, and Primavera P6 scheduler at HDR from 2007 to 2009. In addition to his primary vocation, Mr. Charles is an adjunct professor at Washington University of Virginia, a position he has held since 2018.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Charles pursued an education at Tulane University, earning a Bachelor of Arts and Associate of Arts in digital design, public relations, and website development. He continued his academic efforts at Strayer University, obtaining a Master of Science in computer and information systems security in 2008 and completing coursework in information systems and computer forensics management in 2014. Since 2013, he has been working toward a PhD in information assurance at Capella University.
Following these accomplishments, Mr. Charles has earned numerous certifications. In 2024, he obtained the rank of Certified Information Security Management. He became a certified Managed security service providers practitioner from Tenable in 2023 and completed patch management certification from Qualys the same year. From 2021 to 2023, he was a Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate. He also earned the project management professional certification from the Project Management Institute from 2020 to 2023.
In 2019, Mr. Charles became an Impactful online course creation specialist from Client Engagement Academy. In 2016, he was accredited as a sales expert and systems engineer platform professional from Palo Alto Networks and also completed Qualys vulnerability management certification. Additionally, he earned the DISA HBSS Admin (201) MR5 certification from the Department of Defense in 2013, Security+ from CompTIA in 2012, and Basic and Advanced Oracle Primavera P6 certifications from Oracle in 2008.
In addition to his primary vocation, Mr. Charles remains actively affiliated with various organizations. He has been an ambassador of information security with Peerlyst since 2017 and is a member of the Prince Hall Masons. He is also involved with InfraGard’s New Orleans chapter.
Mr. Charles started his own company to help others learn in the information technology security space. His passion for computers began at a young age, sparked by the memory of receiving his first gaming system in 1987. His enduring interest in computer systems has driven his career in IT security. A notable achievement in his career is his ability to become stronger by leading, giving back, and helping others.
Looking ahead, Mr. Charles aspires to hold a C-suite position, such as chief technology manager or chief information security officer, where he can help organizations advance and strengthen their technological capabilities. He aims to assist different clients in building their companies and giving back to others. To achieve this goal, he continues to train himself, identify and strengthen his weaker points, and gain diverse experience through working with various clients.
