With nearly a decade of experience to his credit, Mr. Bailey has carved out a distinguished career in the field of safety and environmental health. Currently excelling as the founder of Carthaginian Consulting Co., a company he established in 2014, he is known for his meticulous attention to detail and commitment to excellence. His company ensures that clients’ job sites are safe and impeccably clean, leaving no aspect of the task unattended. Prior to founding Carthaginian Consulting Co., he served as EHS superintendent at Skanska from 2011 to 2016, where he played a crucial role in overseeing environmental health and safety initiatives. Before that, he held positions as a safety consultant at RMP from 2009 to 2011 and as a safety manager at United Forming Inc. from 2007 to 2009.
Laying a solid foundation for his future success, Mr. Bailey pursued an education at Union Commonwealth University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism in 2001. He continued his academic efforts by obtaining certifications in construction safety & health and program management from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2009 and 2015, respectively. Following these accomplishments, he completed certifications as a Certified Safety Professional®, Construction Health and Safety Technician®, and Certified Instructional Trainer®.
Reflecting on why he chose his profession, Mr. Bailey explains that after earning his bachelor’s degree, he faced challenges in launching a career in journalism due to demanding hours and low pay. He transitioned to working in warehouses while also producing local television shows and hosting his own radio show for two seasons. Despite slow progress and financial challenges, his career focus shifted to the construction industry, influenced significantly by his father. His passion for the safety industry stemmed from early exposure through his father, who had a successful career in construction. His involvement in the safety team at a warehouse further solidified his interest, drawing on his prior experiences.
Mr. Bailey’s most remarkable accomplishment is his education and earning the certified safety professional designation, the highest safety certification. Additionally, he takes pride in building his business from scratch without any mentorship. Starting with numerous trials and errors, he faced significant challenges but persevered, nearly risking everything to ensure the company’s success.
Mr. Bailey attributes his success to his unwavering compassion for others and his steadfast commitment to integrity, which sets him apart from his peers. He consistently advocates for the well-being of workers and upholds a standard of unwavering integrity in all his actions. Looking ahead, he is determined to establish a robust program that will annually train and equip at least 10 high school graduates or college dropouts for positions in the industry. He plans to leverage their skills to launch a new line of safety services. He is dedicated to raising awareness about the potential career opportunities in the construction and trade industries, highlighting their viability and the potential for rewarding careers comparable to those offered by college education and other forms of employment. Looking ahead, he will continue to innovate and expand his impact, ensuring safety standards are upheld while fostering growth and opportunity within the industry.
