Edgar J. Ridley, owner, and chairman at Edgar J. Ridley & Associates Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in consulting services.

With five decades of experience to his credit, Mr. Ridley has carved out a distinguished career in the field of behavior science, epigenetics, and the impact of symbols on civilization. Currently excelling as the owner and chairman of Edgar J. Ridley & Associates Inc. since 1979, he leads a global consulting firm advising companies and countries across five continents on behavior, using cognitive semiotics and behavioral epigenetics. In this role, he oversees strategic initiatives aimed at understanding and transforming human behavior through innovative methodologies. Prior to this position, he served as an ecumenical liaison with the Metropolitan Associates of Philadelphia, sponsored by the World Council of Churches in Geneva, Switzerland. His career began with notable roles, including senior psychotherapist at the Temple University Community Mental Health/Mental Retardation Center.

Mr. Ridley is a prolific author with a notable body of work encompassing various aspects of behavior science and symbolism. His creative works include “The Golden Apple: Changing the Structure of Civilization” series, published by Red Sea Press and Africa World Press between 2011 and 2022. These volumes delve into symptomatic behavior and its impact on societal structures. Additionally, he has authored insightful pieces such as “Reconciling the Dynamics of Symbols and Symptoms in Bringing About International Change,” “Symbolism Revisited: Notes on the Symptomatic Thought Process,” and “An African Answer: The Key to Global Productivity,” exploring themes of symbolism, productivity, and economic development across international platforms. His contributions to journals and magazines like the Journal of Pastoral Care, African Business & Culture, and Jurnal Produktiviti further underscore his expertise in management, productivity, and the cultural dynamics influencing global civilizations.

Laying a solid foundation for his future success, Mr. Ridley pursued an education at Cheikh Anta Diop University, formerly the University of Dakar, conducting independent study at the Radiocarbon Laboratory, Institut Fondamental d’Afrique Noire in 1987. Under the mentorship of Dr. Cheikh Anta Diop, a renowned physicist and anthropologist, he focused on symbolism from antiquity to modern times. Following these accomplishments, he concluded his studies with certification as an expert productivity consultant by the Asian Productivity Organization in Tokyo, Japan.

In light of his impressive undertakings, Mr. Ridley has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He was recognized as the Lifetime Achievement Award recipient by President Joseph Biden and became the inaugural inductee in the Black Authors Hall of Fame. Additionally, he was presented with the Danny Glover Power of Dream Award at the United Nations High Level Summit. He was also honored with the Carter G. Woodson Scholar Award by the Black Books Achievement Awards and received the First Pan-African and Humanitarian Vision Award from African Profiles USA Magazine.

A standout moment in Mr. Ridley’s career was the invention of the Symptomatic Thought Process®. This groundbreaking concept, unveiled at the Maastricht School of Management in 1992, addresses the negative impact of symbols and symbolic thought on human behavior. He defines symbolic thought as a dynamic that perpetuates mythology, superstition, racism, and global white supremacy. His work has successfully shifted clients’ and students’ thought patterns towards a symptomatic approach, emphasizing symptomatic reading of situations.

Mr. Ridley attributes his success to a deliberate choice early in his education to challenge the predominant eugenics-based narratives in major educational institutions worldwide. Looking ahead, he plans to continue his groundbreaking work of applying the Symptomatic Thought Process® as the solution to global challenges. His focus remains on shifting scientific and global communities from symbolic thinking and behavior to symptomatic thinking and behavior.
