With three and a half decades of professional experience to her credit, Ms. Clark has excelled in the legal profession as an entrepreneur, establishing her own firm and specializing in medical malpractice. She established Jane Clark Legal PC in 2011, and in her role as owner and attorney, she manages and supervises the firm’s medical malpractice cases, acts as lead counsel on all trials, and is responsible for management, marketing, and administrative duties. Additionally, she served as an attorney at Baumgartner Nelson & Price from 2008 to 2011, Hoffman Hart & Wagner, now Hart Wagner LLP, from 2003 to 2007, and Johnson Graffe Keay Moniz and Wick LLP from 1999 to 2003. She was also a partner and solicitor at Lees and Partners in the UK from 1994 to 1998, an associate solicitor at Lees Lloyd Whitley Limited in the UK from 1991 to 1994, and a trainee solicitor at Lees Lloyd Whitley Limited in the UK from 1989 to 1991. Prior to these accomplishments, she pursued an education at the University of Leicester, earning a Bachelor of Laws in 1988, followed by a Juris Doctor from the Chester College of Law in 1989. She went on to pass bar examinations for the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington, the United States District Court for the District of Oregon, and as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales.
Ms. Clark has demonstrated a solid commitment to her professional and community roles. Outside of her law practice, she served as an adjunct professor at Portland State University from 2009 to 2011. Currently, she is a founding board member and executive producer for The Portland Panto Players and a troop leader with the Girl Scouts of the USA. Her professional memberships include the Multnomah Bar Association, the Oregon State Bar Association, and the Washington State Bar Association. Within the Clark County Bar Association, she has held positions such as president, vice president, trustee, and chair of the Continuing Legal Education Committee. Additionally, she is an Eagle Member of the Washington State Association for Justice and a Guardian Member of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association. In light of her accomplishments, she was named an Elite Lawyer in Medical Malpractice in 2023 and a Super Lawyer in 2020. The Clark County Bar Association recognized her as Outstanding Trial Lawyer of the Year in 2017 and awarded her for service in 2015. Additionally, she was listed among the Top 100 Trial Lawyers by The National Trial Lawyers in 2015, was named a Rising Star Honoree by Washington Super Lawyers in 2001 and earned the Queen’s Guide Award in 1984.
Ms. Clark takes pride in having successfully built a thriving law practice and representing hundreds of clients injured due to health care providers’ negligence. She has achieved numerous settlements, often without needing to file a lawsuit. Notably, she won a $2 million verdict in a medical malpractice trial in Clark County Superior Court in 2015, marking the first plaintiff verdict in such a case for 14 years in that county. She attributes her success to her dedication, focus, and willingness to take on challenging cases. In the coming years, she aims to continue practicing law, mentoring attorneys, and securing justice for her clients to cement her firm’s reputation further.
