Pete Pedersen, principal at Renova Capital Partners LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in environmental energy.

With over four decades of experience in environmental energy, Mr. Penderson excels as the principal of Renova Partners LLC.  Renova is a private, national brownfield investment and development company and consultancy that pursues the restoration and redevelopment of environmentally impaired land and buildings across the United States and consults those engaged in redevelopment projects. In this role, he provides guidance to individuals who want to install solar power systems on properties that may have environmental contamination issues. Additionally, he has served as an adjunct professor at Babson College since 2018.

Mr. Penderson’s earlier roles include director of business development at Thermo Electron Corporation, a major provider of analytical instruments and services for a variety of domains, from 1989 to 2000, an associate at Hale and Dorr, an American multinational law firm with offices in the United States, Europe, and Asia, from 1986 to 1989, a foreign trainee at one of the “Big Four” law firms in Japan, Nagashima & Ohno, from 1985 to 1986, and a corporate analyst at Lehman Brothers Kuhn Loeb, an American global financial services firm, from 1981 to 1982. Prior to these accomplishments, he laid a solid foundation for his career, pursuing an education at Amherst College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in American studies, cum laude, in 1980. Following this, he attended the University of Chicago, where he earned his Juris Doctor in 1985.

Mr. Penderson is an active member of his community, serving as a director for the Environmental League of Massachusetts, a nonprofit organization committed to combating climate change and protecting the commonwealth’s land, water, and public health, and a member of the Boston Bar Overseers, a regulatory and disciplinary body governing the practice of law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. His civic engagements include contributions to the Environmental League of Massachusetts, which is committed to combating climate change and protecting land, water, and public health, and participation in the Chautauqua Institution, a 501 nonprofit education center and summer resort for adults and youth. His efforts in conservation have earned him the prestigious Conservation Achievement Award from the National Wildlife Federation. Outside his professional commitments, he enjoys being outdoors, fishing, biking, running, and kayaking.

Mr. Penderson’s interest in environmental issues was sparked by his mother, who was actively involved in the field. As an avid outdoorsman, his passion for the environment naturally led him to focus on environmental law. One of his most notable accomplishments is spearheading the growth of Brightfields, where the team implemented solar energy projects on landfill sites. Additionally, they successfully executed a solar energy project on a sewer fund site in Vermont and established solar plus battery facilities on landfill sites in Connecticut.

Mr. Penderson attributes his success to his commitment and dedication to the cause. In the coming years, he aims to contribute to the growth of startup organizations and individuals seeking to harness solar or renewable energy on contaminated properties through his consulting services. When advising aspiring professionals, he underscores persistence and understanding of how different elements, like insurance and tax, fit together, which will aid in navigating complex situations and finding effective solutions.
