Robert W. Cardea, Owner at South Jersey Golf Schools and Head Golf Coach at Rutgers–Camden, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in athletics and recreation.
With more than 35 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Cardea has excelled as the head golf coach at Rutgers-Camden since 1994 and the owner of South Jersey Golf Schools since 1998. During this time, he was additionally active at the Somerton Springs South Jersey Golf Campus, where he advanced from general manager to managing partner between 1993 and 1998, and the Camden County Golf Academy, for which he was appointed as general manager between 2008 and 2009. He previously served as a site director for the LPGA’s Girls Golf Program and a sales service representative with the Somerton Springs Golf Shoppes from 1988 to 1992. Further contributing to his local church as a deacon, Mr. Cardea has found further success as the host of the podcast “The Breakfast Ball,” which offers motivational sports psychology, and as a private mentor for athletes in the National Basketball Association, Major League Baseball, The Little League World Series, and The PGA of America.
To support his professional ambitions, Mr. Cardea pursued an education at Towson University, from which he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1992. He likewise obtained his certification as a Level III Golf Teaching Professional by the United States Golf Teachers Federation. Recognized as the Alumni of the Year Award from Towson University, he was proudly presented with multiple Coach of the Year Awards from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, where he led the golf team to the national championship on several occasions. Furthermore, Mr. Cardea was honored among the Top 10 Sales Service Representatives by Somerton Springs Golf Shoppes and celebrated for the Most Improved Team in the Country by the National Collegiate Athletic Association in 2019.
Mr. Cardea has attributed his success to his stellar work ethic, as he equates his hard work with the luck he receives throughout his career. Incredibly passionate about golf, he participated in junior golf tournaments sponsored by the PGA of America before competing professionally as an adult until experiencing extremely restricting back issues. Shifting his attention to athletics administration, which had been a family business, he dedicated himself completely to South Jersey Golf Schools following the tragic passing of his father. Proud of having coached and trained more than 50 players who became golf all-stars and champions, Mr. Cardea hopes to coach a player toward an NCAA Championship in the coming years while simultaneously expanding upon the listening audience for “The Breakfast Ball.”
