Charlemagne Tertulien, owner of Kasey’s Fitness Academy and chief executive officer at TMC Mercantile Co., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in business ownership, leadership, and life coaching.

With four and a half decades of experience to his credit, Mr. Tertulien has established a successful career in business ownership, life coaching, and leadership in the armed forces. He currently excels as the owner of Kasey’s Fitness Academy, a community-oriented fitness center in King City, California, offering a wide range of fitness classes, personal training, and wellness programs. He is also the chief executive officer of TMC Mercantile Co., a café and retail space offering coffee, specialty drinks, home décor, clothing, jewelry, and unique gifts. Additionally, he works as a life coach, providing motivation and encouragement to clients dealing with depression, anxiety, addiction, and health issues. His prior experience includes serving as a business director for the United States Department of Defense from 2007 to 2022 and the U.S. Army from 2007 to 2023.

During his time in service, Mr. Tertulien was honored with Coins of Excellence, a prestigious award given in military or government settings to recognize exceptional performance, dedication, or achievements, often presented by high-ranking officials as a symbol of appreciation, and recognition as a Four Star General. Laying a solid educational foundation, he pursued a degree from New Mexico State University, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in 2000. He went on to earn a Master of Science in public administration and social services professions from the same institution in 2002. He also earned several certifications, including wellness certifications, a life coach certification in psychology and relationships, and certifications as a business consultant and in anatomy and physiology.

Reflecting on his path, Mr. Tertulien takes great pride in having raised his sons in the United States and in their many accomplishments. Additionally, his 45-year career with the Department of Defense has been deeply fulfilling, earning him accolades from the president. Growing up with four siblings, he observed his father’s dedication to his older brothers and sister, focusing on their studies and personal development. During his teenage years, he demonstrated his own determination by seeking out work opportunities and engaging in extracurricular activities such as track and martial arts, all while balancing his academic responsibilities. Despite being viewed as the “black sheep” of the family, he was unwavering in his commitment to lead a life free from negative influences like substance abuse and crime.

Mr. Tertulien credits his upbringing and choices for his peace of mind and well-being even after 45 years and expresses immense gratitude for his journey and the preservation of both his physical and mental health. In the coming years, while content with all other aspects of his life, including his fulfilling work and his 34-year marriage, he eagerly looks forward to the joy of having grandchildren, which he considers the next exciting chapter in his life. Additionally, he enjoys traveling with his wife, working out, practicing yoga and martial arts, and bike riding.
