Mr. Vangi has dedicated time to the Franklin Square Chamber of Commerce and is a donor to the local fire department, schools, and the Boy Scouts of America. He laid a solid educational foundation, earning a Bachelor of Science in accounting and a minor in economics from St. John’s University in 1980. Reflecting on the history of La Gustosa Foods & World Products Inc., the company is a thriving family business originally founded by Mr. Vangi’s father. After gaining valuable experience as an accountant, he returned to lead the family business. Initially operating as a small retail shop, the company later pivoted to wholesaling, supplying local delis.
Recognizing shifts in consumer behavior toward supermarkets, Mr. Vangi expanded their reach to high-end chefs and broader markets. He takes great pride in developing unique recipes, a process involving extensive research and trial and error, before introducing them to larger markets. Having witnessed other businesses sold and changed in ways that strayed from their original vision, he is determined to ensure that any future path for the company honors its heritage. Though he is currently managing the business successfully, he is mindful of balancing his professional goals with his personal aspirations, including spending more time with his family and future grandchildren.
