Eric W. Deveau, Grand Master and Owner at Equado Martial Arts, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in self-defense.
With 45 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Deveau has excelled as the grand master and owner of Equado Martial Arts since 1986, where he has been instrumental in shaping the lives of countless students. In these positions, he is responsible for teaching Taekwondo, hapkido, and additional self-defense techniques to both children and students of all ages. Beyond these roles, he is additionally active as the vice president and Midwest director of the International Combat Hapkido Federation. He previously found success as a patrol officer with the Waukegan Police Department from 1979 to 2009, a tenure that helped define his unique perspective on personal safety and defense. Mr. Deveau began his career serving as a military policeman in the United States Army.
Holding a 9th Dan in Taekwondo and an 8th Dan in Hapkido, Mr. Deveau is incredibly proud of promoting and mentoring a number of black belts over the years as well as the opportunity to build a successful martial arts club. In recognition of his impact on his community and his commitment to excellence in his field, he is set to be knighted in Tenerife, Spain, and will be inducted into the Spartan Warrior Hall of Fame by his grandmaster, who was also a personal friend. Emphasizing his focus on personal growth and development within his teachings, he aims to supervise the transition of leadership within his school in the coming years while nurturing future leaders in the martial arts. He also aims to obtain his own ninth degree black belt while maintaining his keto diet, both of which are primary objectives in his personal endeavors. Looking toward the future, Mr. Deveau hopes to embrace the next round of opportunities and challenges within his path.
