In her leading role, Ms. Byrd handles various notary matters, ranging from motor vehicle titles and power of attorneys to real estate closing paperwork, HELOC and refinance paperwork, and buying and selling documents. She is available to travel to her clients’ locations to make the process as convenient and smooth as possible. Describing her profession as an educational experience for clients, Ms. Byrd is often tasked with guiding them to acquire accurate information rather than turning to outlets that might lead to erroneous data, such as social media. These misunderstandings and misinformation only complicate what they are looking to accomplish.
Before pivoting into civilian leadership, Ms. Byrd enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 2001, completing basic training at the Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. Over the next two decades, she progressed into various positions, including F-16 stock control journeyman, supervisor, non-commissioned officer in charge of the aerospace ground equipment supply, and, among other roles, section chief of decentralized material support at the Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in North Carolina. Ms. Byrd concluded her career in the military as a quality assurance evaluator at the Seymour Johnson Air Force Base from 2018 to 2021.
While serving in the U.S. military, Ms. Byrd received an Associate of Applied Science in logistics from the Community College of Air Force in 2014. Subsequently, she garnered a Bachelor of Arts in social and criminal justice, magna cum laude, from the University of Arizona Global Campus in 2016. Over the past few years, Ms. Byrd has also earned several professional credentials, beginning with designations from the Electronic Notary Public Commission and the Notary Public Commission in 2021. She also received an accreditation as a loan/notary signing agent through the National Notary Association in 2022 and a courier license through the North Carolina Department of Public Safety in 2022.
To remain at the forefront of her industry, Ms. Byrd is a member of the American Association of Notaries, the North Carolina Notary Association and the National Notary Association. These memberships have been instrumental in shaping her career success.
Ms. Byrd’s years of service earned her many accolades between 2008 and 2021. She was decorated with a Meritorious Service Medal and an Air Force Commendation Medal. She also received a Senior Master Sergeant Margaret Frances Tuskegee Airman of the Year Award, a Fourth MSG Team of the Year Award and a Diamond One Award, among others. Ms. Byrd has also received hundreds of positive Google reviews for the success of Astylux Notary and Courier Services. She attributes her success to her family’s support.
As she prepares for the future of her business, Ms. Byrd intends to continue expanding her strong network with other notaries to build a supportive community statewide. She will also continue networking with title companies, lenders and real estate agents to create valuable relationships with them. Most importantly, Ms. Byrd envisions continually providing accessibility to clients who have difficulty getting to her office, particularly those with disabilities and other issues that prevent them from traveling.
