During her tenure at The Texas Heart Institute, Ms. Kelly was involved in heart and lung transplants, bypasses and heart surgeries. When she relocated to Charleston, she focused on rapid response. Becoming passionate about teaching, Ms. Smith reflects on her work in Charleston, making rounds and educating staff about protocols involving several sepsis identification protocols she established. This foundational time was instrumental in her desire to offer similar services through dermatology and aesthetics. While attending nurse practitioner school, Ms. Smith began exploring various medical specialties, including plastic surgery, dermatology and cardiology. Her fascination with dermatology led her to where she is today.
In preparation for her career, Ms. Smith received a Bachelor of Science in interdisciplinary studies from Michigan State University in 2014, a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 2016, and a Master of Science in nursing, with honors, from Simmons University in 2021. Her professional credentials include a registered nurse and family nurse practitioner board certification.
A well-written writer, Ms. Smith authored “Your Guide: SkinSmart by Kelly.” This book is a training manual for individuals attending her training academy. She has also contributed to the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology.
