With nearly two decades of experience, Mr. Atkinson has established a successful career as an entrepreneur, specializing in manufacturing, mold making, and machining. Since 2024, he has served as president of Precision Industries Inc., where he also previously worked as a computer numerical control machinist from 2022 to 2024. Precision Industries focuses on custom machining, mold building, producing plastic injection molds, and large-scale plastic injection molding. His responsibilities include overseeing a team of 12 employees, managing daily shop operations, ensuring equipment functionality, handling customer interactions, driving business development, and bookkeeping functions.
Mr. Atkinson’s experience also includes serving as a skilled trades specialist liaison at Delta College in 2021 and 2022, a CNC programming instructor at Delta College from 2014 to 2021, a senior process technologist at The Dow Chemical Company from 2016 to 2021, a manufacturing engineering technician at Dow Corning from 2009 to 2016, and a research and development machinist at SC Johnson from 2007 to 2009. Laying an educational foundation, he earned an Associate of Applied Sciences in manufacturing and industrial technology from Delta College in 2013. He is also a member of the Flint & Genesee Group, the American Mold Builders Association, and the Small Business Development Center of Genesee County.
Reflecting on his path, Mr. Atkinson considers his most notable achievement the purchase of Precision Industries, which he attributes to his trade knowledge, persistence, and the unwavering support of his wife. Looking to the future, he plans to acquire or build a new location to consolidate mold-making and machining operations. He envisions organizing the business into distinct divisions – Precision Molding, Precision Mold-Making, and Precision Tool and Die or Machining. While expanding, he remains committed to maintaining personal connections with his workforce and giving personalized service to his customers.
