Ms. Gilmurray has carved a multifaceted career path, marked by her dedication to fitness, law enforcement and community empowerment. As the owner and trainer at EPOC Fitness NJ since 2010, she has been instrumental in promoting health and wellness in northern New Jersey. Ms. Gilmurray’s role allows her to leverage her extensive background in martial arts and fitness to inspire others to become the best versions of themselves. As part of her daily routine, Ms. Gilmurray trains clients in fitness and nutrition and teaches self-defense seminars and empowerment seminars for all ages and disciplines.
In addition to her role at EPO Fitness NJ, Ms. Gilmurray is an accomplished speaker and competitive bodybuilder. Earlier in her career, she served as a law enforcement officer with the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office in Somerset, New Jersey, from 1997 to 2022. Ms. Gilmurray’s 25 years on the force not only instilled in her a good work ethic, but it also taught her the importance of resilience in the field.
Ms. Gilmurray’s journey into law enforcement was catalyzed by a traumatic event that occurred during her time as a part-time photographer at the King of Prussia Mall, shortly after graduating from college. This experience led her to pursue martial arts training, and she eventually became an instructor at a local martial arts school. Ms. Gilmurray’s expertise in self-defense has since been shared through seminars aimed at empowering individuals across diverse communities. She was also featured on the YouTube channel “My Journey with the Badge,” where she shared insights from her career in law enforcement in two episodes aired in March and April 2025
In preparation for her future, Ms. Gilmurray received a Bachelor of Arts in communication and media studies with a concentration in public relations from Marist University in 1993 and a Master of Administrative Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2004. Her education has been complemented by several certifications, including one in criminal justice from Seton Hall University in 1998, as well as credentials as a certified trainer and black belt in karate, aikido and traditional jiu-jitsu.
Ms. Gilmurray’s involvement with industry-related organizations, such as Business Network International and the BANG Networking Group, underscores her commitment to professional growth and networking.
In light of her success in law enforcement, Ms. Gilmurray was distinguished by numerous accolades, including the Prosecutor’s Achievement Medal in 2009 and the Trilogy Award from FBI-LEEDA in 2020. Her commitment to public service was also recognized with awards, including the Outstanding Service Award from both the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office and PBA Local 307. Ms. Gilmurray attributes her success to perseverance, which has enabled her to overcome personal challenges and empower others.
Eager for the future, Ms. Gilmurray is working on a book, titled “Chosen,” which she aims to publish soon. Through her diverse career and personal endeavors, she seeks to inspire others by sharing her story of transformation and purpose. Her legacy is one of strength, adaptability, and a commitment to making a positive impact on those around her. Additionally, Ms. Gilmurray intends to continue training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu to achieve her black belt in the art form.
