Fidel O. Mazeda Jr., Chief Refinery Inspector and Accredited Investor at Marathon Petroleum Corporation, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements and leadership in the Oil and Gas and Mineral Rights Industry.
Mr. Mazeda has established a distinguished career in the oil and gas industry, currently serving as the chief refinery inspector at Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) since 2016. In this capacity, he has demonstrated expertise in overseeing refinery inspection processes, ensuring compliance with rigorous safety and operational standards. Mr. Mazeda’s leadership and technical acumen have significantly contributed to the ongoing reliability and efficiency of the corporation’s refining operations.
Recognized as a leading, integrated, downstream and midstream energy company headquartered in Findlay, Ohio, MPC operates the nation’s most extensive refining system. Notably, Mr. Mazeda is affiliated with the Galveston Bay Refinery.
Before being acquired by Marathon, Mr. Mazeda was a pressure equipment inspector specialist at Shell from 2014 to 2016. During this period, he was responsible for evaluating and certifying critical pressure equipment, playing a vital role in maintaining the integrity of complex systems within the organization. Mr. Mazeda’s work supported Shell’s commitment to operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
From 2007 to 2014, Mr. Mazeda served as an inspection specialist at BP. In this position, he conducted comprehensive inspections of refinery assets, identifying potential risks and implementing corrective measures to enhance safety protocols. Earlier in his career, Mr. Mazeda held the position of site supervisor at Conam Group Ltd., a role he assumed in 2003. His leadership during this time laid the foundation for his subsequent advancements within the industry.
In addition to his roles within the energy sector, Mr. Mazeda is an investor in oil and real estate. Drawing on insights gained from his family’s background in real estate investment, he has diversified his professional interests by pursuing opportunities outside of traditional employment. Mr. Mazeda also became inspired to educate himself in cash flowing assets and investing by the book “Rich Dad, Poor Dad,” which his father and stepmother introduced to him. He quickly developed an interest in non-traditional investments, such as real estate and oil wells.
Following high school, Mr. Mazeda further enhanced his qualifications through specialized credentials, including inspection certification from The Ocean Corporation and the American Petroleum Institute, as well as designations in welding technology and welding from Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service. These credentials have equipped Mr. Mazeda with advanced technical skills that have been integral to his success across multiple positions in the oil and gas sector.
Mr. Mazeda’s sensibilities toward entrepreneurship and investment was fostered by his grandfather, Rutilio Maceda, in Puebla, Mexico in the 1940s, who decided to invest in lending money with interest to coworkers throughout his youth. As a result of his money management, he was ultimately able to acquire several small businesses, real estate properties, and livestock, much of which were left to his children and remain in the family to this day. His father, Fidel, would later find his own success in real estate and investments alongside his wife, Flor, after decades of working in beef processing plant, eventually retiring as a self-made millionaire. Their story of their legacy would later be recounted in Greg S. Reid’s book “The Rise.”
Born in Corpus Christi, Texas, Mr. Mazeda developed an aptitude for thinking outside the box during his rebellious youth, which led him to a career in the petroleum industry. He subsequently worked for such major oil companies as BP, Shell, and Marathon Petroleum. Upon shifting his attention toward creating passive income, he eventually became an accredited investor so he could gain direct ownership of oil and gas wells, which he aims to create generational wealth and freedom for himself and his family.
A strong proponent of lifelong learning, Mr. Mazeda attributes much of his professional growth to self-study and continuous education. He actively seeks out seminars, reads extensively and surrounds himself with accomplished individuals who inspire him to pursue new goals, including Robert Kiyosaki, Ken McElroy, Bronson Hill, Courtney Moeller, and Michael Maloney, among others. This commitment to personal development has enabled Mr. Mazeda to adapt to evolving industry demands while expanding his expertise beyond his primary field of expertise.
Looking ahead, Mr. Mazeda is focused on advancing within his field while building a robust asset portfolio through strategic investments. He aims to generate sufficient passive income so that employment becomes optional, with a long-term vision of passing on these assets to his children. Mr. Mazeda is also grateful for the encouragement of his mother, Sylivia Gonzalez, who he credits as the biggest supporter throughout his life.
Throughout his career, Mr. Mazeda has sought not only personal achievement but also to serve as an example for others aspiring to overcome challenges and succeed through determination and continuous self-improvement. He hopes to be remembered as someone who demonstrated that perseverance and dedication can enable anyone to achieve their goals.
