Megan B. Daughtry, founder and principal designer at Proud House Studio & Company, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in construction and residential design.

Working nearly 55 different jobs across her professional life, Ms. Daughtry has built an esteemed reputation, beginning with over 15 years in the hospitality sector before becoming a store manager for CP Shades in 1999. Inspired by her father, who was an architect and builder, she found herself drawn to the world of design, joining Candace Killman Interior Design as an office assistant. After this experience, Ms. Daughtry took on the position of general manager at Prana Living. She was later promoted to manager of stores at the same company.

Ms. Daughtry launched her first business in 2012 with Megan Daughtry Consulting. For this venture, she worked with businesses to analyze opportunities to improve company culture. Following a short time as studio manager for On Board Experiential Marketing, Ms. Daughtry became the principal designer at Second Nature Interiors in 2014. With Second Nature Interiors operating as her first fully design-focused company, she prioritized kitchen and bath remodeling in residential homes.

Culminating her journey thus far, Ms. Daughtry founded Proud House Studio & Company in 2018, where she continues to serve as principal designer. Through this company, she works to design spaces that are fitted to the needs and desires of her clients. Ms. Daughtry prides herself on approaching each project from a detail-oriented perspective. She is also set apart from competitors due to her strong knowledge of the construction process, which allows her to see each step of the process through, from initial design planning to completion.

With her projects regularly spanning one to two years, Ms. Daughtry cherishes the opportunity to build lasting connections with her clients that further inform her work for them. She emphasizes the importance of personalizing each design she does rather than offering a one-size-fits-all product. Ms. Daughtry also deeply values sustainability, endeavoring to craft spaces that maximize reuse and reduce waste. She often describes herself as the “captain of the ship,” demonstrating her ability to guide complex renovation projects with a steady hand.

Throughout her career, Ms. Daughtry has relied on knowledge she learned through her academic education and continued training programs. She earned an Associate of Arts in business administration from Laney Community College in 1991. Subsequently, Ms. Daughtry was certified in kitchen and bath design by the National Kitchen & Bath Association in 2015. This accreditation was obtained at Front Range Community College.

To remain aware of developments affecting her field, Ms. Daughtry has maintained her professional affiliation with a number of pertinent organizations. She has held membership in the National Kitchen & Bath Association since 2013. Additionally, Ms. Daughtry has previously been affiliated with the American Society of Interior Designers. She has served as a committee member for the Interior Design Society in the past.

When not working, Ms. Daughtry embraces her role as a loving mother to one son, with whom she enjoys traveling. Looking ahead, she is eager to expand Proud House Studio & Company, with a primary goal of operating in more states beyond Colorado. Ms. Daughtry envisions taking on clients from all across the United States, from coast to coast. Additionally, since she has proven herself in her field, she hopes to mentor and coach younger designers. With that in mind, Ms. Daughtry intends to host a retreat for designers in 2025 where she can offer insights on how to thrive in this space. She also hopes to offer guided tours of active design markets, opening the business up to newcomers while building a community.
