David Garfield, Inventor and Entrepreneur at Lifestart Homes, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Engineers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Innovative Housing Solutions.
Mr. Garfield is recognized for his inventive spirit and entrepreneurial leadership, most notably as the founder of Lifestart Homes. Since establishing his company in 2019, he has served as both an inventor and a business owner, pioneering a transformative approach to residential construction. His vision centers on developing homes from interchangeable parts, a method that enables mass production of components using proprietary equipment. This innovation by Mr. Garfield has allowed Lifestart Homes to construct dwellings with greater efficiency, making homeownership more accessible while providing a solid investment opportunity for buyers.
Initially, Mr. Garfield’s first project with Lifestart Homes was a micro home, conceived before the widespread popularity of similar concepts, such as HomeStart. His work continues to focus on affordable housing solutions that empower individuals and families.
Before founding Lifestart Homes, Mr. Garfield demonstrated his aptitude for large-scale development at the age of 25 when he completed his first condominium project comprising over 100 units. Although he had meticulously prepared all designs and plans, municipal regulations required oversight by an architect. Undeterred, Mr. Garfield collaborated with a design instructor who, impressed by his vision, offered pro bono services on the condition that Mr. Garfield engage Allen Roberts, then a top student and now the principal of one of Utah’s most prominent architectural firms, to produce the necessary drawings. This experience marked Mr. Garfield’s entry into real estate development and set the stage for his future endeavors.
Mr. Garfield’s commitment to service extends beyond professional pursuits. After graduating from high school, he embarked on a two-year mission trip to Brazil, where he developed proficiency in several languages and deepened his appreciation for diverse cultures. Mr. Garfield also completed coursework at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
Throughout his career, Mr. Garfield has manufactured and invented a diverse array of products, ranging from furniture to exercise equipment and innovative construction techniques for homes. His ability to conceptualize and bring new ideas to life has been a hallmark of his professional journey.
Mr. Garfield credits his success to an intrinsic drive to help others, a value instilled during his formative years on campus, where his father was employed. Even as a young child, he organized peers in creative building projects, constructing imaginative structures from found materials. These early experiences fostered a lifelong fascination with design and construction, further influenced by post-World War II culture and a natural inclination toward problem-solving.
Reflecting on his chosen field, Mr. Garfield notes that he always begins with his own ideas rather than following conventional methods, consistently questioning the purpose behind each decision. He chose housing because he believes there is a spiritual conflict affecting society, where rising living costs discourage people from having children.
Beyond work, Mr. Garfield’s personal life is rooted in family values. Born in Portland, he remains dedicated to creating opportunities that enable individuals everywhere to achieve homeownership, support their families and attain self-sufficiency, happiness and security. Mr. Garfield’s career thus far reflects an enduring commitment to innovation, community betterment and empowering others through practical solutions in housing and beyond.
