He started as a firefighter, then became a driver, operating the trucks and pumps. Mr. Martin’s career with the fire department culminated in his role as a captain in 1990, a position he held until 2024. Throughout his tenure, he demonstrated an unwavering commitment to public safety and emergency response.
Mr. Martin’s educational foundation began with earning a high school diploma in Lafayette, Louisiana. He also attended the Louisiana Fire & Emergency Training Academy, where he became certified in the field. The rigorous program at the academy teaches students to safely perform basic and advanced skills through its accredited training curriculum, which is geared toward the ever-changing fire, rescue and emergency medical industries.
Mr. Martin’s leadership and bravery throughout his long-standing career with the fire department earned him numerous accolades, including being named Firefighter of the Year.
