He began his professional journey with the company at age 16 as a summer helper and advanced through the ranks by completing a five-year apprenticeship with Chicago Journeymen Plumbers Local Union 130 UA. By his third or fourth year of apprenticeship, Mr. Kohn was already performing layout work on high-rise decks and leading small crews. In his late 20s, he achieved the milestone of becoming a foreman.
Mr. Kohn’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Business Administration in business management with a minor in economics from Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin, earned in 2012. His academic training provided a solid foundation for managing business operations and understanding economic principles relevant to the plumbing industry.
Apart from his formal education, Mr. Kohn holds several professional certifications, including completion of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)-30 hour training through OSHA since 2012, a plumber’s license at the apprentice, journeyman and master levels from the Department of Buildings, City of Chicago, since 2020, and a registered plumbing contractor credential from the Department of Public Health, State of Illinois, since 2022. These designations underscore Mr. Kohn’s commitment to safety standards and regulatory compliance.
Active in his professional community, Mr. Kohn is a member of Chicago Journeymen Plumbers Local Union 130 UA. This affiliation allows him to remain abreast in his industry and network with like-minded professionals.
