Elaine Moulder, Owner at Brilliant Edventures, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements and leadership in the Travel Industry.

Ms. Moulder, founder of Brilliant Edventures, launched her travel business in January 2015. Based in St. Simons Island, Georgia, she has dedicated her career to running her tour company, designing customized travel programs for groups aged 55 and older. Ms. Moulder’s responsibilities as the owner of the organization include creating tailored travel experiences for retail tour operators and AAA group clients, as well as white-labeling tours for partners, while managing her mother-daughter business partnership.

A leader in the industry for more than 25 years, Ms. Moulder’s professional journey officially began in 1999, when she began working in sales at Travel Adventures in Lapeer, Michigan, where she gained valuable insights into wholesale tour company operations. She then served as the director of marketing for the Student and Youth Travel Association (SYTA) from 2002 to 2006, where she helped shape messaging around the educational value of travel. Ms. Moulder’s expertise expanded further as a tour and travel manager at Pirate’s Dinner Adventures between 2006 and 2008, followed by a role as a trip planner with Kaleidoscope Adventures from 2008 to 2009. In these positions, Ms. Moulder continued to refine her skills in crafting customized group travel programs.

In 2011, Ms. Moulder accepted the position of sales director for international and student youth markets at Sweet Magnolia Tours in St. Simons Island. Here, she developed specialized tours for diverse clientele across the U.S. and Canada. Four years later, in 2015, she launched Brilliant Edventures.

Before entering the travel industry, Ms. Moulder operated her own home-based daycare business. She was also actively engaged in volunteer work with children’s organizations and foreign language programs.

Excelling academically, Ms. Moulder graduated in the top 10 of her class at River Rouge High School. Despite limited family support and financial means, she pursued higher education, completing coursework at Western Michigan University in 1979 and spending another year at a nearby community college. These academic experiences, though not culminating in a degree, provided Ms. Moulder with foundational skills and a lifelong appreciation for learning, qualities that have been instrumental throughout her career.

Ms. Moulder’s industry involvement includes serving on the board of directors for the National Tour Association and Circle Wisconsin. She also maintains an active membership with the SYTA. During her years as the executive director of SYTA’s Youth Foundation, Ms. Moulder notably achieved significant milestones. She increased the annual budget from $22,000 to $200,000, expanded association membership from fewer than 200 to more than 700 within five years, established enduring programs, and created an endowment exceeding $1 million.

Ms. Moulder has demonstrated a strong dedication to civic engagement. She served on the board of directors for Leukemia Research Life at Children’s Hospital Michigan and was honored with the organization’s annual Volunteer of the Year Award for her efforts. Additionally, Ms. Moulder was active on preschool boards and coordinated foreign-language programs at her children’s elementary school.

Ms. Moulder’s professional journey in the travel sector began on the student side. Her commitment to educational travel deepened after joining the Student and Youth Travel Association, where she embraced the philosophy that “travel is essential to a complete education.” This belief has remained central to Ms. Moulder’s approach, emphasizing that travel fosters shared experiences, new friendships and cultural understanding.

Looking ahead, Ms. Moulder intends to move toward partial retirement by transitioning ownership of Brilliant Edventures to her daughter as part of a succession plan. Following this transition, she plans to launch Winos (Women in Need of Spoiling), a women-only travel club focused on curated experiences, including behind-the-scenes tours designed specifically for women across generations. Throughout her career in the industry, Ms. Moulder has distinguished herself through a passion for travel, meticulous attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to enriching lives through shared journeys.
