Before founding Sigmafreq, LLC, Mr. Mathias worked as a global key account manager at General Electric Company from 2005 to 2016. During his tenure, he supplied X-ray computed tomography equipment to a major vendor supporting GE Aviation. Mr. Mathias’s efforts were instrumental in enabling the vendor to complete a new engine product line that has since become a standard in aircraft acquired by Airbus and Boeing customers. The reliability of these engines has led many purchasers to choose GE engines over those from Pratt & Whitney, underscoring the impact of Mr. Mathias’s contributions on the aviation industry.
Mr. Mathias began his professional journey with two decades of service in the U.S. Air Force from 1979 to 1999, achieving the rank of senior master sergeant. Stationed primarily within the United States, including assignments in Nebraska, Oregon and Illinois, he developed expertise in root cause analysis, ultrasonics and vibration analysis, and manufacturing processes. Mr. Mathias’s military career provided a foundation for his later achievements in both industry and consulting.
In preparation for his future, Mr. Mathias earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Judson College in 1999 and a master’s degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 2009. He further enhanced his credentials with a Lean Six Sigma black belt certification in 2016. These academic achievements have been integral to Mr. Mathias’s success, equipping him with advanced knowledge and skills that inform his approach to process improvement and operational leadership.
Throughout his career, Mr. Mathias has demonstrated a commitment to professional development and industry engagement. He is an active member of the American Society for Quality, The American Society of Mechanical Engineers and The American Society for Nondestructive Testing. These affiliations reflect Mr. Mathias’s dedication to advancing best practices within his field.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Mathias has contributed significantly to civic organizations and charitable causes. He is currently involved in charity work through his local church. Earlier, Mr. Mathias served as a volunteer regional director for The American Society for Nondestructive Testing, providing consulting services during his tenure.
Mr. Mathias’s exemplary service has been recognized with several honors, including a Commendation Medal and an Achievement Medal from the U.S. Air Force between 1993 and 1995, as well as a Commendation Medal from the Nebraska National Guard.
