From 1989 to 2014, Mr. Northbrook built his reputation as a commercial real estate adviser and broker with various real estate brokerage companies. Throughout these years, he developed a robust network and honed his business acumen, laying the groundwork for his later success as an executive leader.
Apart from his work in real estate, Mr. Northbrook established the HeadNorth Fund at Sharp HealthCare Foundation in 2006, where he continues to serve as the organization’s founder. His work with the foundation reflects a deep commitment to supporting individuals facing life-altering challenges. Created in partnership with the HeadNorth Foundation, it provides financial assistance to those who have sustained traumatic spinal cord injury, such as Mr. Northbrook, whose dirt bike accident left him paralyzed from the waist down in 2006.
Mr. Northbrook holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and Management from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. This academic foundation provided him with essential knowledge in business operations and management that has supported his rise through increasingly responsible roles within the industry. In addition to his academic credentials, Mr. Northbrook maintains a California real estate broker license issued by the California Department of Real Estate. This certification underscores his technical proficiency and commitment to maintaining high standards within his field.
Active engagement with professional associations has been integral to Mr. Northbrook’s career development. He is a member of The BEST CEO Group and the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce. He also serves on the board of the Commercial Real Estate Development Association and the board of trustees for the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors. Furthermore, Mr. Northbrook participates in the San Diego Leadership Forum.
Civic engagement has been central to Mr. Northbrook’s professional identity. Among various roles, he held a long-standing role as an ambassador for both the Farmers Insurance Open from 1998 to 2019 and the Challenged Athletes Foundation, highlighting his dedication to community service. He also served on the board of Pro Kids, First Tee – San Diego, between 2014 and 2019. More recently, Mr. Northbrook contributed as a business mentor at the Lavin Entrepreneurship Center at San Diego State University from 2020 to 2022.
Today, Mr. Northbrook enjoys hand cycling, particularly with the Challenged Athletes Foundation, and regularly participates in long-distance rides along California’s coast from San Francisco to San Diego. He also rides weekly with John’s Athletes Foundation during Saturday group events that cover significant distances each day over seven-day cycling tours. Passionate about sailing, Mr. Northbrook further engages with Challenged Sailors.
Mr. Northbrook is recognized as a published author. His forthcoming book, “Triumph Over Tragedy,” reflects his desire to share insights gained through personal experience and professional perseverance, having been paralyzed for 20 years. Notably, Mr. Northbrook is currently working on a documentary.

His performance at Cushman & Wakefield earned him multiple Chairman’s Circle Awards in 2005, 2008, 2009 and 2010, as well as the inaugural Inspirational Award in 2007. He was also honored with the HeadNorth Courage Award by Sharp HealthCare Foundation in 2008 and the President’s Award for Community Service from the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors in 2009. More recently, Mr. Northbrook was named among the 500 Most Influential Leaders by the San Diego Business Journal every year between 2014 and 2022.
