Matthew David Norman, Owner at Matthew David Norman, LLC, Agrarian Entrepreneur at Valley Peony LLC and Owner at Stemma Design Studio, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Floriculture and Business Administration.

Mr. Norman has distinguished himself as an expert in floriculture, earning recognition for his innovative approach and entrepreneurial spirit. Balancing diverse roles, he established Valley Peony, a peony farm in Alexander, New York, in 2018. Since then, Mr. Norman launched Valley Peony LLC in 2020 as both owner and operator. As an agrarian entrepreneur, this venture stands as his most notable achievement, as he had been conceptualizing the creation of a peony farm since he was just 13 years old. He also became motivated by a desire to support others, particularly his partner’s family, which was facing challenges in the dairy sector. Mr. Norman established the farm as a means to provide economic stability while pursuing his passion for horticulture. Under his leadership, Valley Peony LLC has become a model for sustainable agriculture and community support.

Also in 2020, Mr. Norman founded Matthew David Norman, LLC, where he has become more of an influential figure in both the floral design and agribusiness sectors. Through this business, he specializes in helping design clients’ special events, from weddings to corporate and other celebrations, as well as storefront design for restaurants and other types of businesses.

Further enhancing his expertise, Mr. Norman has served as the owner of Stemma Design Studio since 2026, where he oversees creative direction and business operations. In this capacity, he manages client communications, coordinates with regional and local farms, and ensures the delivery of high-quality floral designs to esteemed restaurant accounts, such as Gramercy Tavern and Union Square Cafe. Mr. Norman’s daily responsibilities include responding to inquiries, supporting operational logistics and nurturing relationships within the industry.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Norman contributed his expertise as the director of operations at East Olivia Creative in 2023, a company that specializes in creative production, event styling and its original Forever Florals Shop in New York City. Before pivoting into creative roles, he spent 2018 to 2023 as an accounting bookkeeper for Valley View Farm LLC in Alexander. In this role, he managed financial records and supported the farm’s fiscal health, skills that have proven invaluable in his subsequent entrepreneurial endeavors. Between 2019 and 2020, Mr. Norman worked in banking as a part-time teller at Advantage Federal Credit Union, a nonprofit financial organization based in Rochester, New York, gaining experience in customer service and financial transactions.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Norman held hospitality roles that honed his interpersonal skills. He was a host at Babalu Memphis under EatHere between 2016 and 2018. He also gained experience as a host trainer for Dine Brands Global from 2013 to 2015.

Mr. Norman’s academic background has played a pivotal role in shaping his career trajectory. He earned a bachelor’s degree in forensic accounting from the State University of New York, Brockport, in 2020, equipping him with analytical skills essential for managing complex business operations. Before this achievement, he completed coursework in business administration and management at Arkansas State University in Newport in 2015 after initially studying musical theater at Missouri State University in 2013, a highly selective program that fostered creativity and discipline. Mr. Norman received a professional flora certification from the New York Flower Schools Program in 2021, solidifying his expertise in floral design and contributing to his reputation as an authority in floriculture.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Norman demonstrated civic commitment as a volunteer court-appointed special advocate for domestic violence victims and children from 2013 to 2015. He remains an active member of Cornell Cooperative Extension, reflecting his commitment to ongoing education and industry collaboration.

Throughout his professional journey, Mr. Norman has achieved several milestones. He was named U.S. Ambassador of Canadian-based company Fleur de Villes, a testament to his standing in the international floriculture community. He also received the Most Artistic Award from Fleur de Villes in 2024. Mr. Norman attributes his success to determination, persistence and a positive outlook, qualities that have enabled him to overcome setbacks and seize opportunities for growth. He believes that focusing on mastering one area rather than spreading himself too thin has been instrumental in achieving excellence within his field.

Influential figures have shaped Mr. Norman’s journey. He credits his best friend for providing steadfast support and challenging him toward self-improvement both personally and professionally. Additionally, his design mentor played a crucial role in refining his artistic vision and guiding him through the nuances of seasonal storytelling. Looking ahead, Mr. Norman envisions establishing a presence in New York while expanding globally, aspiring to become a prominent figure within floriculture as both teacher and author. His goal is to serve as a trusted authority whom designers, artists and passionate individuals can turn to for guidance in realizing their ambitions. Through building successful companies and leading by example, Mr. Norman remains dedicated to inspiring others and making a meaningful impact within his field.
