Jacqueline M. Steigleman, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Buck Bone Organics, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Business Entrepreneurship.

Over the past decade, Ms. Steigleman has distinguished herself as the co-founder and chief executive officer of Buck Bone Organics in Bozeman, Montana. She oversees all company operations and manages a team of 12 employees, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and facilitating annual audits. Ms. Steigleman’s responsibilities further include handling accounts receivable and accounts payable and maintaining direct communication with clients and partners.

Since founding the company with her husband in 2015, Ms. Steigleman has remained deeply involved in its growth and expansion. The business began as a modest venture at their kitchen table with an initial investment of $1,500. Without external assistance, Ms. Steigleman and her family developed Buck Bone Organics from the ground up, guided by a passion for animals and a commitment to quality and safety in pet products.

Headquartered in Bozeman, Montana, Buck Bone Organics specializes in providing all-natural dog treats. Ms. Steigleman and her husband have developed eco-friendly, premium products that include antler chews, biscuits and all-natural ground antler powder. Buck Bone Organics stands out under her leadership due to its unwavering commitment to quality over profit margins or mass-market appeal. By selecting only premium-grade antlers appropriate for dogs’ safety needs, and educating consumers about these distinctions, Ms. Steigleman built lasting trust among customers while influencing broader industry practices.

The idea for Buck Bone Organics emerged after Ms. Steigleman and her husband decided to pursue entrepreneurship together rather than continue working for others. Drawing on their experiences and inspired by the growing e-commerce market, they launched their first product online in 2013 and 2014. Ms. Steigleman sold her garden center to fund the new business, initially envisioning it as a small Amazon operation. However, by prioritizing premium-quality antlers that are safe for dogs and educating consumers about product differences, she established Buck Bone Organics as a trusted name in the industry. The company’s focus on transparency and customer education has helped raise standards within the pet sector.

In 2024, Buck Bone Organics reached a significant milestone when Borgman Capital, a private equity firm, acquired the company. Ms. Steigleman retained a 20% ownership stake and continues to serve as its chief executive officer while actively guiding the company’s ongoing growth strategy. Under her leadership, Buck Bone Organics is preparing to acquire additional businesses to further strengthen its market position.

Ms. Steigleman’s career is marked by a series of entrepreneurial roles that reflect her adaptability and vision. Prior to her current position, she owned Bates Northern Farm in North Salem, New York, from 2013 to 2015. In this capacity, she managed agricultural operations and continued her commitment to organic practices. Between 2010 and 2013, Ms. Steigleman served as a manager of The Country Farmer, where she oversaw daily business activities in the gardening sector.

From 2006 to 2010, Ms. Steigleman served as the executive director of Save It Forward Inc., an organization dedicated to community support initiatives. She first owned and operated Bates Northern Farm for over five years, beginning in 1994. Ms. Steigleman’s diverse background also included years in law as a litigation paralegal at Whitman Breed Abbott & Morgan LLC in New York between 1984 and 1990. This role provided foundational experience in legal processes and organizational skills that would later inform her approach to business leadership.

Education has played a pivotal role in Ms. Steigleman’s success. She earned an associate degree in liberal arts with concentrations in equine sciences and general studies from Southern Seminary Junior College (now Southern Virginia University). Ms. Steigleman also holds multiple certifications that have contributed to her diverse career path. She obtained a paralegal certification from Sacred Heart University in 2012 following an initial paralegal certification from the Connecticut Institute of Paralegal Studies in 1984. Additionally, Ms. Steigleman is certified as a securities financial adviser.

Beyond professional pursuits, Ms. Steigleman is civically engaged as a sponsor of Retriever Rescue of Las Vegas. Her dedication to the organization demonstrates her commitment to animal welfare, consistent with her company’s mission.

Throughout her career, Ms. Steigleman has demonstrated qualities that set her apart within the business community. She credits her strong work ethic and ability to remain focused on objectives as key factors behind her achievements. Rather than being influenced by labels or preconceived notions, Ms. Steigleman approaches every challenge with objectivity and practicality. These qualities have enabled her to deliver optimal outcomes for both customers and employees. Additionally, her approach emphasizes doing things the right way and building meaningful connections with employees, whom she considers family, as well as customers and partners alike.

Looking ahead, Ms. Steigleman aims for Buck Bone Organics products to be available in every pet store across the United States, from major chains to independent retailers, while continuing efforts to educate consumers about the benefits of high-quality antler chews for dogs. Her vision is rooted in maintaining uncompromising standards to ensure pet owners nationwide can trust what they purchase for their animals.
