With nearly 25 years of experience to her credit, Ms. Mouw has excelled as the owner of Dairywise Laboratory Services LLC in Twin Falls, Idaho since 2019. A full-service laboratory dedicated to improving milk quality and animal health services in their region, she handles various administrative tasks in her present position, including communicating with local dairymen and nutritionists, paying bills, attending to necessary paperwork, and connecting laboratory workers with dairy owners directly. However, she is also esteemed for going above and beyond in this role, including visiting farms herself, collecting and supervising samples, ensuring daily activities are completed, and providing personalized consulting for dairymen. Though establishing Dairywise Laboratory Services offered its own challenges, including building the business on short notice and navigating logistical issues stemming from the COVID-19 Pandemic, Ms. Mouw is incredibly proud of her work with the aforementioned company, which continues to thrive and helps dairy farmers remain employed.
Ms. Mouw’s career began at the Kulshan Veterinary Hospital, where she initially served as a veterinary assistant between 2000 and 2012. During this time, she obtained a high school diploma from Lynden Christian School in 2002. She further supported her professional ambitions at Washington State University, from which she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in animal sciences and a minor in agriculture business in 2007. Yet the financial burdens of becoming a veterinarian led to her shifting her attention toward similar fields, as Ms. Mouw became additionally active as a herder for Eaglemill Farms from 2009 to 2012 before relocating to Idaho.
Ms. Mouw subsequently found success as a laboratory analyst with Udder Health Services between 2012 and 2017, where she refined her skills and expertise in laboratory services in the dairy industry. From 2017 to 2019, she advanced to become a manager for GHC Labs, the abrupt closure of which inspired her to open her own laboratory in the same space prior to finding a permanent new location. During her impressive tenure with Dairywise Laboratory Services, Ms. Mouw garnered her certification from Leadership Idaho Agriculture in 2022.
In addition to her primary responsibilities, Ms. Mouw has contributed to numerous endeavors outside of her immediate circles. Notably, she has overseen many charitable partnerships through Dairywise Laboratory Services, including her mentorship work with the nonprofit organization Roots Africa, which battles hunger and poverty in Africa by building the next generation of change-making entrepreneurial leaders, and her support for The Jae Foundation, an organization that advocates for awareness surrounding mental health and preventing self-harm. As a testament to her achievements inside and outside of the laboratory, Ms. Mouw was highlighted by such publications as Valley Wide Cooperative and Valley Ag.
Ms. Mouw was celebrated for her stellar efforts with Dairywise Laboratory Services with the Samantha Ramsey Innovation Award from Leadership Idaho Agriculture. She has attributed her success to her community as well as her unwavering and diverse support system comprised of her family, friends, colleagues, and customers. In the coming years, Ms. Mouw hopes to continue her education with a master’s degree and doctorate while expanding Dairywise Laboratory Services into a larger space and business as to better accommodate their growing customer base.
