Donna H. Thomas, Owner at Make a Wise Choice Insurance, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in business administration.
With decades of experience to her credit, Ms. Thomas has excelled as the owner of Make a Wise Choice Insurance since 2019, a position in which she is able to offer life and health insurance services and annuities to clients in her region. Beginning her career as a courier in the 1980s, she began hosting art parties highlighting Black artwork and eventually discovered the burgeoning marketplace of art within the hospitality industry. Successfully an art auction to benefit a struggling African American Museum in Atlanta, she subsequently entered the art industry, opening two art galleries in Jacksonville, Florida which she operated for more than 15 years. After the Recession of 2008, she ultimately decided to retire from the arts and shift her attention to the more economically stable field of insurance, working for several insurance companies, including Florida Blue, and amassing hundreds of clients before deciding to establish Make a Wise Choice Insurance. Outside of her efforts in the fine arts and insurance business, Ms. Thomas served as an aesthetician with a self-owned day spa for 17 years, contributed to the National Urban Coalition for Unity and Peace (NUCUP), and offered her wealth of knowledge to her community as a public speaker.
Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Thomas pursued an education at Whiting Business College, from which she obtained an associate degree in business administration and management in 1974. She concluded her studies at Dyke College in 1976, graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration. Attributing her success to her love for people as well as the relationships that she has built with her clients by ensuring they can make informed decisions regarding their insurance options, she is particularly proud of selling indexed life insurance to a construction worker, from which he was able to build a retirement plan from which he could access funds. Looking toward the future, Ms. Thomas hopes to reduce her overall workload by creating a small team while continuing to find joy in helping others.
