Title: Owner
Company: J Palmer Performance Horses
Location: Kanarraville, Utah, United States
Jason M. Palmer, owner of J Palmer Performance Horses, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in horse training.
After suffering a life-changing accident at the age of 10, Mr. Palmer discovered a passion for riding horses that eased his anxieties. He turned this source of comfort into a lifelong career training horses for racing. Alongside ten years as a professional jockey, Mr. Palmer has worked with as many as 30,000 horses over more than 30 years. His accomplishments include training 14 horses for the Triple Crown, coaching a rider who won the National Reining Horse Association Futurity Finals and winning Non-Pro Reserve World Championship Reiner at the American Paint Horse Association’s Finals. Mr. Palmer was named Jockey of the Year and Leading Rider of 1990 by the Utah Horse Racing Commission and Leading Rider of 1991 by the Nevada Horse Racing Commission.
In addition to his primary vocation, Mr. Palmer has embraced a new path as an author. In 2024, he published his first book, “The Finish Line: Discover the Grit To Live an Empowered Life.” Through this book, Mr. Palmer uses his unique journey to teach readers the importance of pursuing their own dreams rather than following the expectations of others. Inspired in equal parts by the leadership advice books of John Maxwell and classic equestrian literature like “Seabiscuit: An American Legend,” the book has seen great success. Mr. Palmer has been amazed and humbled to witness his first book charting higher than many of those that influenced him. He attributes his achievements to a strong work ethic, discipline and an unwavering positive mindset — attitudes that he hopes to convey and encourage through his book.
Beyond his professional life, Mr. Palmer is a committed husband, father to two and grandfather to two. Outside of his work with horses, he finds joy in playing golf and scuba diving. In planning for the future, Mr. Palmer is eager to continue honing his writing craft. He hopes to publish a book related to the National Reining Horse Association that will have a lasting impact on the industry. For this project, Mr. Palmer plans to collaborate with his wife and others to create a testament that encompasses the full view of the power of horses.
