Brandon Marcus, NCTM/PAVA-RV, Owner and Director at The Studio, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in music education and the performing arts.

With years of experience to his credit, Mr. Marcus has excelled as the owner and director of The Studio since 2013. His professional journey in the Arts began with Sunny Side Theater and Azalea City Center for the Arts in 2009, initially as a Choreographer and Music Director until being named Artistic Director in 2012. He took a leap of faith and opened his own performing arts studio, simply called The Studio, in 2013. An opportunity to collaborate with former Mouseketeer and Broadway veteran Brady Brown presented itself in 2014, allowing Brandon to join forces with the Brandy Brown Studio until its closure in 2018. During this time, Brandon also served as a preludes instructor with the Mobile Symphony Orchestra. Brandon made the move “across the bay” to Baldwin County and became the first Musical Director at Eastern Shore Repertory Theatre from 2017 to 2018, followed by an Artist-In-Residence position at the Renaissance School of the Eastern Shore from 2018 until the 2020 COVID-19 shutdown. He has since fully dedicated his time to growing The Studio into what is now a 6,000 square foot performing arts studio that offers individualized, one-on-one lessons in acting, dance, guitar, stage makeup, piano, violin, and voice in a safe, supportive educational space.

Mr. Marcus initially pursued his formal education at the University of Alabama, later transferring to the University of South Alabama, from which he earned a Bachelor of Arts in liberal studies (communication, education, music, and theatre) in 2013. He subsequently continued his academic pursuits with a Master of Liberal Arts in leadership and ethics from Spring Hill College in 2017. Mr. Marcus additionally holds several certifications that enhance his professional capabilities, including NCTM (Nationally Certified Teacher of Music) from the Music Teachers National Association; PAVA-RV (Recognized Vocologist) from the Pan American Vocology Association; and Vocal Health First Aider from the nonprofit Vocal Health Education in the UK.

Mr. Marcus attributes his success to a combination of education, resilience, determination, and an extroverted personality. Committed to supporting his community and those around him, he routinely serves as Music Director for many local schools and organizations, volunteers countless hours with multiple nonprofit boards, and spends his Sundays as the organist at his church. As a testament to his exceptional undertakings, he has been named a Mobile Bay 40 Under 40, ACCESS Magazine 50 Most Beautiful, a NATS Joan Frey Boytim Fellow, and was presented with the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Volunteerism from President Joseph R. Biden. Looking toward the future, Mr. Marcus hopes to build a state-of-the-art custom facility for The Studio and establish a nonprofit organization that can operate after-school programs for low-income students and provide scholarships for promising students seeking further education in the arts.
