Carl M. Kaufman, Jr., Owner at C. MAYER, LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in apparel marketing and sales.
An esteemed figure in the apparel industry with 60 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Kaufman has excelled as the owner of C. MAYER, LLC. In this position, he plays a pivotal role as a minority partner in the apparel consulting company, focusing on sales, marketing, merchandising, and public relations. Catering to various markets and lines of apparel with C. MAYER LLC, Mr. Kaufman’s dedication to his industry has been further exemplified through his active membership in the Men’s Apparel Association.
Mr. Kaufman’s career began with a bold decision to forgo a traditional academic path, ultimately deciding against a formal four-year college education. During his enrollment at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, he discovered his passion for communications, which encompassed the fields of marketing and public relations, and he embraced his analytical nature outside the confines of collegiate studies at the behest of his father. Opting not to financially burden himself with student loans, he entered the apparel industry by selling clothes and menswear at a local store. Within seven years, Mr. Kaufman advanced to the position of general manager, overseeing five stores and supervising all aspects of the business including merchandising, purchasing and personnel matters.
In addition to his primary responsibilities, Mr. Kaufman has contributed to a number of civic-minded organizations that have had a significant impact on his community. He is associated with the National Federation of Temple Youth, part of The Reform Jewish Youth Movement that extends to leadership efforts for teenagers throughout North America, and Caleb & Calder Sloan’s Awesome Foundation, a nonprofit initiative established in the wake of the tragic and untimely passing of his grandson that aims to advocate to make a positive impact on youth activities by repairing playgrounds and schools and providing classrooms with items that are needed but cannot be afforded. These affiliations reflect his commitment to giving back to his community and fostering change for those in need, including through volunteer drives for struggling populations.
A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Mr. Kaufman has built a fulfilling personal life alongside his professional endeavors. He is the loving husband to his wonderful wife, Gloria Dianna Lunsford Kaufman, and is the proud father of two children, Carla Melanie Kaufman Sloan and Carey Michael Kaufman. His extended family remains an integral part of his life as he continues to pursue new opportunities.
Looking toward the future, Mr. Kaufman aims to identify and secure strategic partnerships with organizations interested in reviving apparel manufacturing in the United States with processes that are both competitive and sustainable in nature. This objective underscores his dedication to innovation and growth within the apparel industry while embracing the core values that ushered apparel production and sale in America in greatness in the past. His professional journey has showcased how determination and adaptability can lead to remarkable achievements on both regional and national levels. Mr. Kaufman hopes that his story will serve as an inspiration for those seeking to carve out their own path in life while making significant contributions in their communities and industries in the coming years.
