Since 1947, Hansen’s Furniture Company has been recognized as one of the top family-owned furniture stores in the Mount Vernon, Washington, area. Run by Ms. Gerrior and her husband since the mid-1990s until his passing a few years ago, they collectively built their business, selling a multitude of brands, including Tempur-Pedic, Sterns and Foster, Parker House Furniture, Night & Day Furniture, and Ashley Furniture, among many others. From living room, dining room and bedroom décor to bedroom mattresses, Hansen’s offers a unique variety of choices for every customer’s taste. The furniture store also sells Amish Furniture and offers in-home delivery.
Now, as the sole owner of her furniture company, Ms. Gerrior continues to excel as a hands-on business owner by actively engaging with customers and assisting employees with their needs. As a servant leader, she emphasizes the importance of fostering a positive work culture that breeds employee engagement and success. As a small business owner, Ms. Gerrior also ensures that her furniture store remains relevant and competitive in the marketplace. Valuing integrity and commitment, her dynamic personality has been key to her longevity, and her positive attitude continues to inspire those around her.
As part of her continued commitments to the industry, Ms. Gerrior is active with AMI’s Furniture Leaders and the North American Home Furnishings Association. Civically engaged, she is a prominent member of the Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce. She also sponsors and advocates for various causes and frequently donates furniture to organizations such as the United Way of Burlington, a local youth program, and auctions. Moreover, Ms. Gerrior generously donates to the Northwest Organization for Animal Help and Radio Station Auction.
In recognition of her professional accomplishments, Ms. Gerrior has been lauded with several accolades. Among them, she received Best of the Best Skagit Valley, the Official Community Choice Awards, in 2024. She was also highlighted among the Women in Business in the Skagit Valley Herald, and her store was named Skagit’s Best Furniture Store for nine consecutive years. These awards reflect Ms. Gerrior’s dedication and quality of service.
Ms. Gerrior’s perseverance was notably tested in 2016 after suffering a devastating fire that consumed Hansen’s Furniture Company. Having to rebuild the store, it took nearly two years to get it up and running again and restore it to its original beauty. Thankfully, Ms. Gerrior had a second location across the street, allowing her to maintain operations, employ her team and continue serving customers. As she prepares for the future, she intends to continue excelling in retail furniture, strengthening her connections with customers and positively impacting the community.
